View Full Version : New best at Kennedale last night.
60' anyway. :D
Took it out for some shake-down runs with the new converter(PT4200) and Hoosier slicks.
DA around 2300 - 2500.
First run - with the car shifting too early into 3rd and 3* KR :(
1.65, 7.69 @ 88 - still really happy to be in the .6's on the first pass.
Then:
1.65, 7.65 @ 88.1
Adjusted the 2-3 shift point and let a little air out of the tires(to 16lbs):
1.62 :D new best
4.84 - 330, new best
7.62 @ 88.1 - second best ever, only to my 7.61 in -600 DA. Hit the rev-limiter for some reason on the 1-2 shift. Vid looked like it might have spun a little after the 60' mark. Could have been my first 7.5.
Last run:
1.65, 7.65 @ 88.2
No 7.5's, but happy none-the-less. :D

I saw that car run a 7.6 and thought it might be you. I looked for you in the lanes, but never did see you.
Did you see the Speedtek car run the 6.4. That's hauling ass for a stock bottom end

No, I talked to Sean in the Staging lanes with the car, but didn't see it run. He said on the first pass is was way low on tranny fluid and banged the rev-limiter a few times. Guess they took care of that. :)
6.4 - wow. I think it dyno'd 600+ hp and tq yesterday as well.

That car should go faster than that since he had to left off the gas and 2nd stage for it to shift into 3rd on that 6.4 pass. Anyone check out that silver hatch they raced? 408 running 6.9's on motor.
Nice times Lane. What do you expect to gain with some cooler temps?

I did see that silver hatch. I thought he had a bottle when it ran. Does he have a bottle, that car would run damn good if so.

I'm hoping for mid-11's in cold air with a little more weight reduction.

I wasnt out there but I did talk to Matt from Fastech and he was the one telling me about that car. Sean raced that car a couple of weeks ago when he had a customers car out there and I guess they told him what it had.

Thanks Mike. I was around 2500-2800+ every time exept for once. I staged and watched my tack and revved forever... Turned out there was a slow car at the end of the track and I finally let off, then the tree started coming down  - and I don't know where I hit it on that run, but it was my best 60'. I don't think it was much over 2000...
Just need to find the sweet spot. You were right on on the shift points. You suggested +2, +1. I went with +2, 0 - which worked on the street, but at the track it shifted too early into 3rd. So, I went to +1 on 2-3 and that was my only adustment.

Question: The higher you launch the softer the TC hits right?
Lane I didn't run a 1.7 60' till I launched higher. Launching low was overpowering the BFGs.
Maybe you are launching too high and you're getting a soft hit?

Judging by the video's, it's hitting pretty hard. :) However, my best 60' came from launching at the lowest rpm of the night. I just don't know where that was... I'll figure it out.

Yeah. That's exactly what I'm saying. Launching lower gets you a better 60' and the exact opposite for launching higher. I went faster launching higher because it hit softer, which was easier on the BFGs.
Congrats Lane, those are some good, consistant times.

<----fears the turbo scream.. :)
JC - that's more true with the Vigi's than the Yank's from what I've been told and heard. The Yanks like to be stalled higher.

What's it like driving around with a 4200 stall converter?

Kirk- you need to go for a ride in his car. It's not bad at all. It rolls back slightly on in incline and it only revs up to around 3k before it starts to move. Very driveable!

Actually, from a stop - it only takes 1500-2000 rpm to get going. If I went to 3.73's, it would be very tame on the street. 3.42's now.

Congrats Lane!
I'd put more gear in it. And then let her rip.
Its a big misconception that a 4200 flash speed stall isn't driveable. 3000 RPm isn't bad at all. My car with the 5000 stall in it was only going to about 3200 part throttle. It was very liveable.
