mazda mx-6

Raced a mazda mx-6 tonight and i hate my damn auto tranny it has nothin in first gear. When raced from a stop from 0-40 he had me by half a car(somebody please tell me why my car is so slow in first gear?) hit second gear started pulling on him by 85 i had him by two cars. He had a new full exhaust and a cold air intake he said. but hell i am sick of having a slow first gear what can i do to make it better out of the hole without doin gears.

Don't most people with autos get a shift kit? Switch to new gears, seriously, you shouldn't have to worry about Mazdas.
