View Full Version : 2000 Ford Focus, which wire for 'remote'

I installed a system in my G/F's 2000 Focus ZX3, and all I did was add the RCA adapter to the factory deck. I then installed an amp, like usual...but, I am not sure which wire to use for the remote on the amp. Therefore, I've got constant power to the amp, which will drain the battery sooner or later.

So, can anyone figure out what color wire I need to run the remote to? I suppose any wire that is a 'key on' power source.

Or, I could always just run a wire from the remote connector on the amp, over to the power supply, and put a switch between it, but that's ghetto...

Thanks
Shawn

generally it is the solid blue wire coming off the unit.

Connect the amp turn on lead to the switched (ignition power) lead on the deck. When looking at the end of the plug with the release button on the top, the wire should be the second one in from the right on the bottom row of wires. You can use a test light or better yet a digital multi meter to make sure you have the correct wire.

Keep in mind that any time the key is on, even if the radio is not, the amp will be on. Sometimes there will be wierd noise when the deck is off so don't turn it off.

use a test light if you have one, or just attatch it to somewhere in the fusebox that is on during acc and ignition, such as the windshield wipers!!!
