I have a '99 Ranger with the CD/Tape factory Ford stereo. I want to install my 10" JL into the truck, but how can I get leads from the factory radio? Does it have any outputs or am I going to have to figure out a way to get a bass signal from it?

You will have to pull the deck out and you should connect a PAC SNI15 or similar speaker level converter and run a RCA and turn on lead to your amp.

You lost me on that one

Will the "speaker-level converter" give me a RCA output? Where would I connect the remote for the amp? The radio "on" circuit?

Call any stereo shop and ask for a knockdown converter. Install that to your rear speaker leads, and connect your RCA's to it. Pretty easy shtuff. :)

Get a test light and test wires under the column for when the ignition is on and off. Just tie into one of those.

I wouldn't tie into just any wire with fire, that wire could be the ecm power wire  Tap into the fusebox into the radio fuse. :)

Well, yes, that could be bad. I always take off of the fuse box.

Thanks for the help. A fuse tap was what I had in mind. That's what I've always done in the past, but I've never connected to a STOCK radio, that's why the question about the RCAs...

thanx again
