My friend is telling me that Denton is now a 1/4 mile track. Is that true? I thought it was still an 1/8th mile track? Could someone please help me out on this? Thanks.

Still an 1/8 dude, they just lengthened it to a 1/4 for more shutdown room for the fast cars. It's totally remodeled, great place now.

You can do a search and get the exact measurements or go to the www.voy.com/80248/ message board archives to get exact length. Search would be on here posted by TxCounselor13@aol.com
When the track is completed, it will be over 1/2 mile, but there isn't enough land to get NHRA certification or insurance for a 1/4 mile.
If you've been to Denton, imagine the finish line around what is currently the tower. Completion for all improvements is August 31. So pray for sun so we can pour the new entrance road and track extension!:D :D :D

HRP has 1/4 mile of shutdown area - or 1/2 mile total. How is that possible, did they get grandfathered into some NHRA clause or something?

I honestly don't know about Houston. If you have access to an NHRA rule book, it might tell you. You might also contact Nick at www.DentonCoDragway@aol.com
He's a certified tech inspector and the Race Director at Denton. Some of my numbers may be slightly off - I just posted what I was told.
