I just saw it on the Corral in the Modular forum. "Turbo Tim Qualifies #1".
It is a 98 Cobra.
Hmm don't see any ls1,ls6 powered cars runnin lo 8's with untouched heads, cam. Maybe there is hope for these little mod motors.

In all honesty I seriously doubt those heads are "stock"
Those heads are about as stock as the heads in the NHRA trophy stock or whatever that stock division is.

Rods are liek toothpicks or some shit?
That car looks gutted like all get out. Put an engine inside some light sheetmetal and any engine will go "fast".
Impressive speed though, but I agree with David...that's the ONLY thing on that car not touched.
Impressive is an understatement considering that the block is a factory piece, the crank could be a factory piece as well. As for the heads, they could very well be stock, 32 valves flow a massive amount of air...add a turbo to that and you would have a very deep breathing setup.

This is a Mustang site right:confused:
No way in hell could I duplicate that set up $$$
That is why I have a cheap LX with a windsor.

Multi-angle valve job and possibly a back cut on the valves... thats more than likely all they get.

I think the point is you don't see those kind of times every day out of a mod motor. Very impressive, Too bad he won't call me anymore!:D

i posted a link on here about a month ago from the corral about his car so you could probably do a search on here and find details about the car.
i think everyone is getting too rapped up in the stocks heads thing. the damn car goes 8.3's at 160 with a 4.6 with stock heads (open for interpretation) and stock cams. the car is clean as hell and setup awesome.

Heads are STOCK.
Cams are STOCK.
Car is missing a few interior pieces, but hell it is a race car. :)

I just wanted to clear a few things up.
First, the heads and cams are STOCK, no porting, port matching, clean up, etc..... Nothing they are STOCK. Stock valves untouched, stock springs and retainers, and they have not even been shimmed. I know some will not believe this, and that is fine, I am not going to argue.
The short block does have a main support, polished STOCK crank, billet rods, and forged pistons, it also has ARP Main and Head Studs. The intake is also modified, actually it is a fully custom intake. I have never claimed to have some exotic car, and I hope that it will go faster with the heads and cams the way they are. I don't blame people for doubting this, and everyone has a right to their own opinion.
As far as gutted. Well it is a race car, but every interior piece is in place except for the rear seat, and back deck cover. Of course everything, padding, sound deadening, radio, a/c, heater etc... has been removed. This car looks so much like a street car, no one at any event has expected the et's it has run. If you have ever seen it in person, you would never call it gutted.
The car does weigh 3059 #'s with me in it!
I share all the information about my car, and have No reason to lie about anything that is on it, or in it for that matter.
Thanks for those who have complimented it!

Tim, congratulations on showing some people how fast a 32v ford can go! Basically as far as I'm concerned the 32v mod motor should be capable of this and even more with more head flow, rpm and engine displacement. It's sort of like a Supra with two more cylinders and 50 per cent more displacement. The only people I think that would be pissed about you going so fast is the Supra crowd because this is only the begining.
I have a client that is in the design stages of a larger mod motor with a custom intake like yours but is in it for the NA angle. He also has customers of his own with power adder stuff that would also like to make more power a little easier. The 32v heads just simply move more air so they can and do respond to power adders much more readily than the older feeble 5.0 stuff ever did. Of course the aftermarket 5.0 and Windsor stuff is a lot better than anything ford ever did on the 302/351 stuff as far as stock but the 32v heads are already pretty damn respectable!

Sorry Tim, It is not my Mod motor. Erik is building me a windsor. He has a customer who is doing the Mod motor though.
I do have a SLOW 01 Cobra though all stock and it will more than likely stay this way.
I hope you go 7's!

Tim,
I'll vouch for the "sleeper" effect your car has for the unsuspecting bystander, lol. I saw you run in Maryland last week and nearly fell out of the bleachers after the first pass I saw! Congrats on the killer ride!

So, coming from a waivering 32V fan, how come my friggin car spins bearings like its eating tic-taks, and yours carries you to the 8`s. Not fair!
