It's simple fucking football, man. 3rd and short is a running play. Almost always. Football 101. First downs, occasionally, you will catch the D stacking the box to stop the run, and in that instance, it's ok to throw the ball. But 90% of the time, you should be running on first down. And in fact, with all the questions surrounding the passing/receiving game here in Dallas, you should be running it a MINIMUM of 60-70% of the time. It's not like they don't have the backs to move the chains.



I don't truly hate him. But IMO, he's failed an as OC. That's completely taking everything this year out of the equation. What he did worked, for one season. That's it. In fact, it didn't even work the whole season. By December, D Coords had him figured out. Don't get me wrong, he's a smart guy. Sometimes, I think he's too smart. You don't always have to have some grand scheme to win games. He overlooks all the basics, looking for his next trick up his sleeve. Get back to the basics. Run the ball, move the chains, control the clock. He's got the team to do all that, if he would adjust his play calling to do just that, the Cowboys could be very successful this year.

Can you remind me what Romo did wrong that game? No picks, no fumbles, threw for 250+ yards? Add another 240 yards of rushing by the backs. 500 yards of offense is pretty good. He didn't throw any touchdowns, but when your backs are averaging over 5 yards a carry, run it in.

Williams missed the first one, couldn't tell if it was just a ball out of hands thing, or if the cornerback was yanking on his arm after the ball made contact, then he runs basically the same exact play again? That pass to Williams was too high for the cornerback to leap as high as he could at that pace while turning around and grabbing it. I'm sure Romo didn't expect him to turn around and jump when the ball was already in the air. The ball wasn't tipped, and it wasn't intercepted. As Borat would say: "Great success!"
