Dumb question ,but how are audiopipe subs? I see alot of people using them latley but to me it looks like a flea market knockoff of audiobahn, lol.

Shit sorry dude, I take back my statement. I'm gonna hang onto the system until I sell the car as without it, it would be boring as hell. :smirk:

If you want quality sounding bass dont forget a nice amp as well. I had a cheap JVC amp in my truck powering my 2 JL W1's (I think they are W1's) and recently switch to a MTX amp and the difference is crazy. It hits harder, sure but it also sounds so much cleaner all around.

And I second talking to Ew on a setup, that mofo has forgotton more than most of know about car audio.

I have never heard a Dodge quad cab 2-10" or 2-12" box that goes under the back seat sound good. True story. Oh they produce sound just not that great IMO. There is just not enough airspace (especially for 12") and maybe something about the shape of the cab or direction the subs fire or something just delivers weak, muddy performance. However, the JL Audio center console Stealthbox with a 13W3v3 sounds good.

Yep, Im in the same boat. I have a '03 dodge that got two 10's a week after getting it off the showroom floor and it has never sounded "great". It sounds decent and about perfect for what I want but not phenominal.

I thought about the center console stealthbox but my son usually sits there and I thought it took the seat functionality of it away doesnt it?

Sorry if Im hijacking btw

you guys all fail. type arghs are spl subs. the type X is closest to sq from alpine but not that great plus the price is gay. no mtx sub will deliver strait baselines and keep up with double pedal or anything tricky. honestly if you buy JL, youd be alright but youll pay wayyy too much for anything decent and a W7 isnt too practical.. look at brands such as IDQv.3, Focal, FI Audio (the FI Q to be exact), RE SE's (for clean and pretty loud), (if you can find) TC sounds lms, AE AV10's, and audiopulse Axis (made by TC sounds and is beefy as crap and gets loud while sounding clean).there is also the RE XXX but youll need about 2.5Kw to get it moving right.*

as for amps, about a 1000 watts will get those subs moving (minus the XXX), so you might want to look at the kicker zx1000.1, sundown SAZ1000D, RD amps, and if youre budget is crazy, a zapco amp. they are some of the best in SQ but youll spend a good bunch. all of these can outperform the ungodly W7 in my optinion and with the right set-up, youll sound realy clean and get loud as well.

true, type Rs are mainly used as spl subs but can sound good in the right box, the box can make or break any system IMO plus alot of those choices would end up costing more than a W7. I would go with some of these: RL-p12 (http://www.soundsplinter.com/rlp12_subwoofer_information.html)s or some RL-i10 (http://www.soundsplinter.com/rli10_subwoofer_information.html)s

[I] just recently tried something that you may laugh at with the under the seat box that made a pure night and day differnece. I did an aperiodic setup on the under the seat box and it really woke it up.

any JL Audio series sub sounds good.....personally if your going with a truck i would stick with the w3-w6 version as it requires less space to produce clean sound. the w3 requires less power to produce clean sound than the w6. im personally not a big fan of the JL amps or the w7 but any old school Fosgate BD series amp or even a JBL BP 600.1 amp would do you good.

on a side note, i had a 03 single cab dodge and ran the following setups.

3- sony xplod 12's, 2000w Power Acoustik Amp (free system) cooked it :D
3- Audiobahn 12's, 2000w Power Acoustik Amp (free system #2) center sub caught fire :D
2- Kicker Comp VR 15's, 1- 1000w Rockford Fosgate BD1000a1 amp (Kickers fall apart after a beating)
1- Cerwin Vega Stroker 15, 1- 1000w Rockford Fosgate BD1000a1 amp (not enough room for needed air space)
1- JL Audio W3 15, 1- 1000w Rockford Fosgate BD1000a1 amp (almost a 2" excursion and sounded sooooo clean)
2- JL Audio W3 15's, 2-1000w Rockford Fosgate BD1000a1 amp (stupid loud, IIRC i hit 143 or 148 on a meter) still sounded so damn clean

JL's ftmfw

I run decent power through a pair of 15" Type Rs, ported, but I wouldn't really call them SPL subs. They're certainly not what I would call SQ subs either, but they sound really, really good.

If your goal is SQ, and you're limited on room, why not just stick with one sub and make the most of your airspace and budget? Get one great sub and amp with what you would have spent on two. Oh, and deaden the crap out of everything if you haven't already.
