Blacksnake1996 joined me and my friend to play a round at Meadowbrook Ft. Worth today. I've gotten some better irons and had a couple lessons, so I was hoping to do better than mid-120s.
I need to warm up prior to starting, I was definitely a bit tight and had a horrendous first hole :( All in all, I did start doing some things right... started hitting straighter, actually made par on a par 3... after 18 I shot 111.
I mention the first hole only because if I woulda even double bogeyed it I would've shot 107, which would've been out of the 'teens. I think that's OK for my 5th round ever. I have a goal to shoot sub-100 by October.

At the end of this year you should get a eagle card. You get to play at 9 different courses all over the metroplex and you play one round for free. It cost 150 dollars and you can play anytime any day. It's a great deal.

Aw hell, we had a great time anyways. And a 111 is respectable for someone that has just started the game. I know several that shoot much higher that have been playing longer. Just keep practicing and things will get better and better...and worst at times.
We will do it again.

You've got to go hit at least a few balls before you go out and play. You'll almost always struggle early if you don't sort your swing out on the range before you play.

Yes it does. You don't have to pay a dime the first round. And in the month of Feb. and March you get half off at cowboys.

Now that one says 199 but if you get it before the beginning of next year I believe my wife paid 150. That 199 is for the people that bought it later.
LOL, wow Don. Don't you have enough expensive hobbies? I haven't played in a few years. I am starting up travel league in September and bowling again. Think I've had enough of a break that I can actually have some fun with it again. Found my Dad finally awhile back and he asked me to bowl with him. So I'll be in Ft.Worth area every Saturday morning. lol. You still hitting the weights and bowling still?

Fuck bowling.
Fuck bowling.
ha! Amen to that. Went and practiced with my Pops a couple of weeks back. Only took a couple of games to get my timing back and it was actually fun! Surprised the shit out of me.

SO... when are we gonna go throw a game or 6???
Christian told me you found your pops through his doubles partner or something. I am glad you got some closure to that, and I hope he's straightened up and trying to be better than the way you always conveyed him.
I still bowl once or twice a week off-season, and I'm in the gym 4-5 days a week. I'm cutting weight down right now, sitting around 165 lbs.
LOL! Between the gym, golf, bowling, pool, darts and cigars I stay pretty busy ;) My good luck is I've got a girlfriend that supports me doing all the above, and bowls & plays pretty good darts herself.
I have reached a point in my bowling where I am focusing on controlling speed and break point... I haven't bought a bowling ball since last spring! That's like 15 months! So I'm not spending my brains out on bowling gear anymore...
... I've found golf and Cuban cigars for that ;)

Good to hear you are doing well bro. We will definetly have to go throw a few games for some fun. Travel league doesn't start until September and it's every other saturday morning. So I'll need some practice before then for sure.

Cause he had a massive heart attack and died last sunday. He was a well known bowler and pro shop guy. He was a storm rep. and had a booth at nationals. He mainly bowled at DC West when he was here, and I think he took over the pro shop at plano superbowl. He was only 53.

Ah yes. Bowled against him several times, but he never drilled anything for me.

I know. I just need a few days in advance when everyone is playing. Working for yourself has it's pros and cons.

The bowling center has AC and it's summertime in Texas. Let me know when you and Don want to go practice.

Southern Cali, it isn't anywhere near this damn hot. I'm fuckin spoiled from the ocean breeze blowing in that nice cool air into Huntington Beach.

Sounds nice. I have never been to Cali or Florida beaches. The only beaches I have ever seen besides Texas beaches (haha) is Cancun, Cozumel, Raton and Belize. And it was a hot mofo there.
On the bright side though, its only gonna be hot here for another 5/6 weeks. Well, I guess thats on what you call hot. It shouldnt be breaking 100 anyway.

Wasn't it like 90 degrees last Thanksgiving still? I swear Texas has 7 month long summers. Texas beaches aren't the greatest. After seeing Cancun/Cozumel you wouldn't enjoy a Texas beach.

LOL, I think you are right. We seem to linger in the heat from time to time.
I like Padre ok, but its just dirty water and sand. Cancun was the prettiest beach I had ever seen. The turquoise water and all the colorful fish was amazing. Melinda and I want to go back sometime soon.

Its hard to get that way during the week because of traffic, but we need to make it happen. Maybe even hit something half way. It would be fun.

Golf is very humbling. I got to the point where I considered myself good, but I was playing everyday. Then, instead of really pursuing it, I fuck it all up, got married and took a very long break. I think I've played maybe 5-10 times in the last 6 years.
I need to re-club and get back out there.

Ha! Now I have a great Christmas present idea for my husband this year... that card is a great deal. We're paying $35 per month right now for him to have free use of the range at Mansfield National and rounds for $17 including cart.

That's not bad. All of the courses have stuff like that. I love that card. It's a great deal. Make sure you book yours early cause they are limited to the first 2500 I believe. At least that is what they say.

Can you give me some more information about how they work? Is it one round of golf per course per year for free? And then 20% off per round after the one free round???
