Anyone seen it? its on HBO. its about a town in mississippi who up until 2008 had segregated proms. I dont remember the name of the town but the actor morgan freeman is from there. he offered to pay for the entire prom if they only had one for the white and blacks together. It was a really good show. It shows that it wasnt the kids that wanted to have separate proms but mostly the parents. I found it shocking and upsetting that stuff like that was still going on, and people still think that way. anyway good show i would recommend it, i watched the entire thing and i have the attention span of a gnat.
god bless.

I watched it the other night while getting some shit done on the computer.
I thought that was nuts too. What really blew my mind, is that the town and schools are 70% black, 30% white, and they STILL had segregated proms. Just that Deep South mentality, I guess.
I wish they had covered more on whether or not they had issues with fights, parents, protesters, etc. They were beefing up on security because they expected issues outside, but never once mentioned whether there were any issues or not.

I'm from Mississippi and yea, there are still places like that. Many people think it's just the whites, nope. There are black towns in Mississippi that if you are white, you don't go in to. The segregation is from both sides.

I started watching it the other night and was like man this is gonna be pretty gay. But then I actually started paying attention to it and man those people are pretty crazy. It was pretty good.

Yeah, they talked to some parents on both sides, but it did seem that the racism coming from the black parents, was just based on mistrust of white people. Not really hate, but just a general mistrust of white folks. Growing up when and where they did, I can't say that I blame them. I'd be cautious too.
