me and the wife are looking to buy a new TV and she wants a flat screen, im a complete newbie when it comes to flat screens. whats the difference between plasma and LCD, and 1080p and 720p?
the room its going in is roughly 12'x14' and the distance from the wall to couch is about 10'. open to suggestions
plasma in my opinion has a better picture but uses more electricity
LCD is better with static images and using it as a computer monitor.
If you dont plan on getting a blu-ray player, dont get 1080p. Everything else is in 720p these days. If you are like me, and only getting Bluray when its the price of current dvd stuff, the TV will be outdated anyways.
50" tv would be a good size. Id probably go Samsung Touch of Color LCD personally.

720 is fine but 1080 is better. if you find a deal, go 1080. size is more important IMO for watching TV + movies.
plasma pros:
picture quality better (colors, blacks, motion).
more size for money
cons:
potential burn in.
glare
heavy + transportation and handling sensitive
lcd pros:
less power
no burn in
less glare unless you buy one of those new shiny front lcds
better as monitor.
cons:
picture quality
motion blur
potential dead pixels
led > lcd
brighter, better colors, thinner.
