What can I do to block the heat coming in from the skylight. The light comes in into the kitchen, and I dont really care if it lets light in anymore.
Its a rental property, I just wanna block the heat while im here.

Trash bag, duct tape....and cover the outside of the skylight.

I think they make solar screen covers for skylights.

cut out a piece of cardboard and tape it or use tacs to cover the hole.

They sell this stuff called "Insta-Cling" at Walmart that comes in %20 or %5 tint....All you need is a bottle with water and some soap and it presses on super easy without the glue.....and the best part its easy to remove and reuse.

You can do the solar screen thing, but the best bet would be to chose a place to insulate it. Insulation is the only way youre going to stop heat from entering. Although, I personally dig those so I'd try to stop the heat and leave the light.
However, if worst comes to worst...

Exactly what I did at my old house. If you REALLY wanted to cut down the heat you could double layer it and go with a very high value solar screen. Home Depo sells the aluminum frame members, corner pieces, fabric and retaining loom.
I bent up some tabs out of aluminum and bonded them to the skylight to hold my new custom screen in place. It cut down so much incoming heat I made screens for the back door and all the windows
Of course if you have one of those self flashing bubble type skylights it may not be a possibility for you

go to home depot or lowes, back in the garden dept. they have shade cloth, you can have it cut to the size you want,on my old house i had 2 sky lights and i doubled it and stapled them to the roof, that cut out the heat and still gave me some light,in the winter i just pulled them off. works great. might cost you about 20-25 bucks.

spray paint it black inside and out dude
spray paint it black inside and out dude
it would make it radiate even more heat, if painting is an option, paint it white
