They left out the part about the allegations of child molestation and the out of court $$$ settlements. And the part how he was a compulsive liar regarding any of the cosmetic changes to his appearance. I think that would make for a nice lead in to that rather lengthy list of humanitarian deeds.
Stuart Smalley is a Senator now. MJ is considered a cultural icon when he should simply be regarded as being a side show freak that had a knack for dancing. Yup..we just might be circling the drain.

it looks like it is just a resolution to recognize his accomplishments, I didnt see anything in the bill that would cost tax payer money, so I am alright with it. after all he is an American icon, even Ronald Reagan gave him an award for his wok, and you have to give credit where credit is due, especially if its an American.

This morning on the usual Everyone wants to know about Michael news broadcast, they were talking in regular tone/tempo for anything about Michael that they could drum up. Then came some real news, and if it wasn't for closed captioning, I would not have been able to keep up with how fast they were talking. They covered 7 bits of actual news in less than 5 minutes, whereas Michael consumed the first hour, Michael's kids consumed the next 30 minutes, and then Michael's burial consumed the last 30 minutes.

these things happen in congress all the time, does cost the tax payers money, its a verbal vote near the end of the day, usually all in favor, just to put something on record, no big deal, I think the congresswoman is making it a bigger deal then it really is

He was a celebrity pure and simple. History/celebrity crap should take care of him, not our government. Besides, it's not like he's what I'd call a role model or anything and that's ignoring the likelihood of him bopping with kids.
Again, I'm a bitter person about this stuff though. I don't feel celebrities should get ANY SPECIAL honors above and beyond what a good citizen, solider...cop...etc will get when they die or have died.
