Everybody knows that global warming is not the real problem.

I think he might have actually made a decent president. I could be horribly wrong, but this whole global warming thing was just a blind swing and he hit a home run with the hippies. He's getting funding, probably some hairy strange every now and then...
I think if he would've been elected prez, this whole global warming deal would've never happened.
Whatever happened to saving the rainforest? Nobody gives a shit about those things anymore.

Actually the whole cap and trade deal addresses the rain forest bullshit. Its going to give these bullshit countries with nothing to use as leverage something to use as leverage.

does anyone still not believe that the earth is getting warmer?
Does anyone actually believe that man is the reason that the earth is getting warmer coming out of an ice age?
What about the thousands of other Ice Ages in earths history? Where were all the people to cause it then?
You are so dense it makes my head hurt. Tell me, is ignorance truly bliss?

and it will get cooler too...
It all depends how you look at a graph and how far back you look.
does anyone still not believe that the earth is getting warmer?
Ask the scientists at NASA why Mars is getting warmer. You think it could be the sun? You want to do a cap and trade thing with the fucking Martians now? Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

Let's say it is. And let's also say that it's due to man's "carbon emissions".
What is the cap-and-trade legislation doing to reverse the problem? All I see that it's going to do is:
1. Make someone a LOT of money
2. Possibly lower carbon emission rates due to the fact that Americans won't be able to afford current energy consumption levels
3. We will still have higher temperatures because nothing addresses emissions that have already happened
You HAVE to see that this legislation is going to cripple the economy and allow policymakers the ability to commit what amounts to highway robbery.
And no, I do not believe man's carbon emissions have a damned thing to do with the surface temperature of the earth, especially when compared to increased levels of radiation from the sun.

I am assuming every one here went to college and took at least 2 lab classes where global warming and experiments are beaten into you.
we know the earth is getting warmer, and its getting warmer at a faster rate then it ever has in history, even when compared to previous ice ages. it has never warmed like this in the history of the world.
is man causing it? we know there is a relation between the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere and temperature there is proof of this in the ice record.

Then maybe we should outlaw water vapor since it is a "greenhouse gas" and makes up a higher percentage of the atmosphere than CO2, which is only .03 percent of it. Or maybe we should outlaw the sun, since that is where ALL warming comes from.
Man affect the earths "warming" in any measurable way? Laughable. The creator of everything must be highly amused at the hubris of man.

And there is only ~150 years of history regarding human "carbon emissions" that could possibly be used as data. You're telling me the science is unquestionable even given a sample size that is approximately .000000025% of earth's history? Laughable. Or more accurately, moronic.
What caused the global warming that ended the last ice age? What caused the global cooling that started it? You don't know, because no one does.
Do we need to reduce emissions? Hell YES. Is it because of climate change? I don't see PROOF one way or the other. Should we be economically disadvantaged to other countries that burn coal as fast as it can be found? Hell NO. We have to find ways to compete before coming up with dogma related to the way we're doing it now. When new ways are cleaner, cheaper, and stimulate the economy, I'll be behind reducing "carbon emissions". Until then, we are only going to hurt America with NO RESULT in reducing global temperatures.
we know the earth is getting warmer, and its getting warmer at a faster rate then it ever has in history, even when compared to previous ice ages.
The world is 3 billion years old, sounds like maybe you need to go back to school before making statements like this. This could be the 4,000th warming cycle of this magnitude for all we know.
In fifty years if the earth is still warming I may be concerned. Even then I won't recommend a course of action that cripples our economy while, for every American citizen there are FIVE chinese that have no emissions controls on their cars and burn coal for their electricity. What is anything I do going to do about that? You want me to call China?
I'm sorry, the "climate change" thing is bullshit. It is really about money. Now please educate yourself because you are killing me. And no, alarmist bullshit you read in the newspaper is not educating yourself.

They are pulling ice cores out of the Antarctic ice shelf and testing the carbon dioxide levels of the air bubbles found inside. Some of them are tens of thousands of years old.
And to that I say...whooptee freakin do! Three billion years folks.... 10,000 years is the blink of a fucking eye.
Not to mention the guys doing the testing are getting government grants to do it. Hmmm...wonder if they are incentivized to feed the bullshit machine. People never lie for money!

I still can't believe anyone is falling for this "We are causing global warming" bullshit! Ya, the earth is slightly changing, but it's NOT because of what we do and it's NOT as drastic as Al Gore says. LMAO @ most of those slides from his movie!!!
Look... the earth goes through cycles. Hell, who remembers about people being worried in the 50's about the next coming "Ice Age?"
People like Al Gore see nothing more than a money-making exercise. We've all pointed out his SUV's, large- energy watsing house, private plane, etc... anyone who thinks he and the rest of the "experts" aren't trying to pull one over on everyone, is just plain dumb.

You're a giant idiot...
I wish I could live long enough to see the next Ice Age, The earth is old say a few billion years give or take a million here and there...(not the religious forum, kick rocks if you if you wanna argue this) The most recent cycle the earth has been on is this whole ice age bullshit. Glaciers come down cover 40% or more of the earth or so it gets cold, it eventually gets warmer, glaciers retreat, repeat.
The last ice age we had was 20,000 yrs or so ago, we (geological community as a whole) have no evidence to conclude that the Earth has entered a new era geologically, so it stands to logic and reason that eventually another Ice Age will come. On the calender of events that goes back 2.5 million years or so, we're do for an actual no shit Ice Age in the next couple century to thousands of years(A thousand years ain't shit for the earth)
The reasons and explanations behind the Ice Age theory are numerous as the Earth, seeing as it's a huge bitch. The human effect despite what the fear monger's tell you is most likely minimal. Over the last 200 yrs (remember 200yrs here is less than a heartbeat to the earth) All the "damage" we've caused to the Earth to advance our species isn't even comparable to the damage just one of the many combination of things that fucks with our climate. Take for instance with the dinosaurs we have fossil and geological records that show the Earth was far hotter then than it is today. A change in the Sun's output by 1% would have enough of an effect on our climate to effectively create another mass extinction. On and on I can recite more reasons for you, but I'm about to goto bed.
Bottom line, is the Earth getting warmer...sure by bits and pieces over hundreds if not thousands of years. Until it reaches it's natural climax and cools it's self off. Is there anything we can do about it? We can't even fuck it up bad enough to kill the Earth, what makes you so arrogant to think we can save it from itself. This cycle has been around longer than human civilization, I'd rather continue our technological development along it's current lines so that one day we might be able to avoid complete extinction when the Earth gets suddenly cold again.

You're a giant idiot, why don't you look back in the records to about a billion years or so....oh wait we have legit proof the Earth was far hotter than then than it ever has been in the last 2.5 million yrs(refer to above post about current ice age theory)
Where did you learn your geology from a perpetually high hippie from a college which probably didn't even sponsor a geology program until govt grant money came down the tube in the 90's? Geology is by far one of the youngest sciences on earth, 500 yrs ago everyone knew the Earth was flat, 50 yrs ago everyone knew the ocean floor was flat until we developed sonar.
Don't believe everything you heard from a 1982 geology video you watched in 8th grade earth science. ON another note when have celebrity scientists ever been right? About damn near anything? They're out there to make a buck. The majority of the geology community has began to understand global warming about 50yrs ago are now coming to conclusions that its happening on the Earths own set schedule...we're just along for the ride. There is NO WAY we can fuck up this planet more than it can fuck itself up in any length of time.
