Anyone know of a good refrigerator repair guy. Our refrigerator kicked the bucket this weekend. Its got a bad smell, smells alot like plastic, probably a burnt motor. I have never worked on a refrigerator, any tips?

Try E&M Home Service and ask for Tim. They do good work at a fair price. You could also checkout the repair forum at www.appliancepartspros.com. Lots of good info on that site if you want to do your own repairs.

So, I used to try this game and never had good luck with the repairmen that came by. I called Sears and had MUCH better luck with actually getting crap fixed.
Beyond that now, I typically just do it myself. I at least diagnose it myself and especially with what you're saying - I recommend doing that. If you see major damage from heat, you may just need a new fridge. It would suck to pay 75-200 dollars for a repairman to tell you the same thing.
Plus, once you get that far you can just get a part somewhere and throw it in there. The worst that'll likely happen is you'll have it apart far enough for a repairman to finish and save him time. :) At best you'll fix it at a fraction of the cost.

Well I opened it up last night when I got home. Looks like theres a bad relay going to the compressor. It was completely burnt up and melted. If its just a relay, no big deal, I will get it and slap it in. The only concern I have is relays either go out because they are bad, OR the compressor its hooked up to was trying to pull too much power to compensate for something. I am at least going to change the relay and see how that goes. IF it works, thats just 50 bucks compared to 1000 for a new fridge.

Cool deal - for the most part I learn everything I need to know via google. Saved me probably 500-1000 bux over the last few months.
