In Garage so water is not an issue .... i can't get the blower fan to start ... found a ground wire off - restored ... but still no blower ... blower fan has three mounting points - one is snaped off - could that be the reason why the fan will not star?

can you reach in and spin it by hand?
they made so many different units, they also made them for the military on humvees and for communications trailers. About everything was something custom made for them, all compact and modular. I bought one for a crane at the steel plant about 1993, it was inservice for 12 years and the main problem on it was the condenser fan pully combo that was nolonger made. When the pully wore out, the belt slipped, tighten the belt, the compressor went out. Couldn't buy a pully to fit it that was made with a fanblade on it. It leaked freon horribly because of all the screw fittings and connectors they used.
but, it had a really nice stainless case that made it look great.
If it's portable, I'll look at it for ya, bring it to Midlothian.

It's portable at almost 400lbs ... wheels around garage ... but not the city .....
I have the problem isolated to the blower fan - and by hand it will spin - so it works????, is iit the wires OR I noticed it has a capacitor on it .....
ideas anyone?
can you hear a relay click when you switch the fan on? I don't know what type of control system that unit has, there aren't many around. It have switches or a thermostat or what? What are you supposed to do to make it come on? Even with a bad capacitor, the fan will try to start and kickout. Anything else work on it?

It has two fans - one of them is working but the other one I found a green ground wire loose so I hooked it up where there was another ground - still no good. The Fan that is working seems to be the intake and ehaust - the non working fan is the one that would blow the cold air out the front of the unit.
These units are built modular. Likely that fan motor has a plugin on it's wires.
1. Check for the plug and reseat it. If that isn't the problem.
2. trace the wires back to the control box. It goes to a relay, that relay is controlled by a switch on the control panel. See if the relay is switcing.
3. Look for a fuse for the fan motor in the control panel.
4. Trace the power from the 220 supply to the relay.
5. See if the relay is switching power to the fan motor.
6. If the fan motor has power but not running and not hot to touch, the motor is bad.

also shows capacitor. I have not found the control panel or fuse yet. In this pic you can see a white pull apart plug - has two prongs in it when opened - is that a fuse?
post a picture of where you turn it on atalso shows capacitor. I have not found the control panel or fuse yet. In this pic you can see a white pull apart plug - has two prongs in it when opened - is that a fuse?
that plug reverses the motor rotation
that white box at the bottom of the picture is a float that shuts the unit off if the water drain gets plugged.
the motor looks like it's sitting crooked in the blower housing, is that where you said the mount was broken?
thats a torsion mount motor, you can buy a torsion mount adapter ring and break off the other 2 mounts on the motor and use the adapter, it slips over the motor and has a nut to tighten a band to hold it on. That gives you 3 new mounts. The motor has to be totally free to turn or it won't start.
post a picture of where you turn it on at
or just call me and log onto a video chat
the control panel is somewhere close to where the power wires go in I bet

for your help .... the float I f figured out .... BUT I think you may be on to something with the motor mount - after looking at it closely from all sides - you are correct - it is off center - FWITW I was able to spin the "fan" but not sure if that is worth anything. Where do I get the new mount or your mount you mentioned .... or is that something a Pro has to install?
The unit had a old three wire thermosat for it's controller - Red - Green and Yellow controller wires - Have I installed a digital and matched up the wires - but all the same results and have gone back to the old contoller with no luck ....

Ah Ha - the motor mounts are the problem ... now just have to find a replacement for them .,...
green to red turns on the fan. the fan can't drag at all. It has to spin freely after you spin it. will it? If you hold up the side of the fan that's low, will it spin freely. I do this stuff all day at work and have for 40 years. All the ac supply houses as well as motor shops have torsion mount adapters for that motor you have on that unit. I don't know your skill level but you already have a broken unit right now so what can you hurt. To put an adapter on requires removing the motor, can you get to the otherside of the fan blade, there is a square head screw or an allen screw that holds the fan motor on the fan wheel. take out the 3 screws on the torson mounts and the motor should slide out the fan wheel . break off the remaining torson mounts and slide the adapter on the motor and tighten it. slide the motor shaft back in the blower wheel align the new 3 torson mounts to the holes in the blower housing, tighten those screws. Align the flatside of the shaft with the screw on the blower wheel and feel for even spacing by sliding the blower wheel back and forth to center it in the housing. with the blower wheel centered, snug the screw holding the blower wheel, be sure it's on the shaft flat. Spin the wheel and make sure it isn't draging anywhere.

You are right in line - when I try to spin the unit now it will not ..... lift up on the bottom with the motor ---- "centered" and then spin the fan and it goes around nicely .... I have to find the mount you referenced and I think I will be good to go!
Thanks again for your help.
By the Way - PM me your address if you would like some "outdoor grilling" "help = = FREE Stuff."
PS - do you make house calls and if so - what would you charge to 75068????
