View Full Version : Above ground pool installation ideas?
So I have never installed one before and I am reading up on tips. Any of you guys do anything special to install yours. Here is what I was thinking.
1. Build a 24' x 24' square with 2" x 6" treated wood.
2. Fill this square in with about 4 inches of sand
3. Level out sand so the pool is smooth.
4. Fill with water get some beer and enjoy the weekend.
I was also recommended to place a piece of 6 x 6 tile under every pool beam rt so that it can keep the metal beams from sinking in to the floor
Doesnt seem hard, shit ill probably even get my guys to do it for me I just need to know if im in the right track

We had one for a while when I was growing up and we dug down about a foot into the ground then leveled it. Gave it a slightly more permanent feel. Building a small wood deck with stairs to get in makes them better as well. Just like a 6' wide deal with stairs leading up. Much better than the cheapo ladder they come with.

Above ground pools are fine... Quit being brats jeeze lol
Those pumps they come with are ASS. Get an upgraded pump and you'll be soooo much happier. My parents got a huge ass pump made for about 1.5 times the size of our pool and it does a great job at keeping it clean and there's never shit in it. Just keep chemicals in it and vacuum it once a week and you should be fine.

Next home I get, besides having a 1000 car garage and being worth 212.45 million dollars will either come with an in-ground pool OR I'll buy an above ground, deck it and be done. I just don't see the in-grounds being worth it for the most part. I know plenty of people that their above grounds easily lasted 10-15 years. At 800-1200 a pop, that's a lot of years before the in ground became worthwhile. Yeah, I understand there is a difference.

When I was a kid we had above ground pools for a while.
Make sure you put a good shot of roundup where you are putting the pool. You do not want anything growing through your liner.
WE also dug ours down 3 feet so that we could get in easily. It also helped keep the water cool.
