well guys i dont know what to say about the movie, i guess since seeing Transformers 2 has elevated my movie expectations i am not sure about this movie, at times it was a bad ass with all the shooting and shit, but at others i was waiting for someone to get killed before i shot myself, i would have to give it 3 out of 5 stars

My wife and I threw away $5 each on a matinee to see this over-blown turd. We were both put out. Over-directed, under-lit, and way too convoluted. With the cast they had, it should have (could have) been one helluva flick. Don't waste your money on it.

Fuck his "style"...you couldn't tell who was who anytime they were in the woods, which was a lot. Extreme close-ups that last too long, suck in what I thought was supposed to be a gangster flick. It was more of a love story. Piss on that director. I warned my wife that most of the reviews I'd seen were not good, but because of the cast (Depp and Bale) I thought I'd give them a pass and check it out. Bad move...

Saw it yesterday. I was kind of bored. A movie about John Dillinger should be intriguing and exciting. This was anything but. It lacked substance and there was practically no character development. The movie was two and half hours long, which was plenty of time to do so, Mann just wasted it.
Oh, and Christian Bale is still a no-talent ass clown.

Im right with you, I feel he was over acting in parts. Johnny did a good job, so did the girl who played his girlfriend. I thought the camera angles sucked, along with the shaky camera. Poorly directed IMO.
I thought the baby face nelson in oh bother where art tho was a lot better than this one, and I kept wanting the one in public enemies to express his hatred of cows, but he never did :(

I agree on this. It could have been a helluva flick, but they blew it. The old "Dillinger" movie with Warren Oates was better than this over-blown POS, and it's got to be 35 years old.

Just saw it. Less than impressed. I don't know if it was just that the theater we were in had a badass sound system or what, but the only thing I found remarkable was how LOUD they made the Thompson submachine-guns. I really felt like I was in the middle of the action when those things were being blasted. Aside from that, meh.
