Soaker Hoses

Well I never thought I would see the day in Houston where I actually needed these but the time has come. The last house I lived in had a sprinkler system so I didn't need them. The question is how close do I but the hose to the foundation and how often and for how long do I run them? I have heard of people watering to much with these and caused a bigger problem.

Place the hose ~18" away from the foundation and water for ~hour at a time for 2-3 times a week. You'll need to water the rest of the yard too or the grass/trees will suck the water up too.
