PS3 flat panel PC monitor

Does any one know the proper way to connect a Play Station 3 to a flat panel PC monitor. I have the correct cables to hook it up according to information on the net. Used all the video out options on the PS3 control panel and the flat panel monitor control panel settings. still wont work. Any information would be appreciated Thanks

Thanks the ps3 cable to the monitor is a HDMI to DVI, monitor is set to digital. Looks like the monitor is not capable of receiving the HDMI signal, its a Dell model 1905FP color flat panel monitor with VGA and DVI conections

The monitor needs to be HDCP compliant, and needs to be able to support TV signals.
