e74 error code on xbox...

I cant find on the stupid f*cking Xbox site if Microsoft is warrantying this like they did RROD, anyone know? BTW, they refuse to let you talk to anyone on the phone, just recorded BS. I requested a repair online and they are sending me a shipping label, but I need to know if they are charging me $100 for repairs. BTW, my 1yr warranty ran out in May, how convenient huh?

E74: I/O Hardware Error - HSIO related, could be crc error, or many things: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. Microsoft covers this error under their 3-year warranty, this is availble to anyone who hasn't modified their console. contact MS to get a free replacement console before attempting to fix this yourself. Failing that this error In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102)

Thanks G. I'm not too brilliant with electronics, so I'm afraid to open it up and then not being able to have MS fix it.

A friend just had his fixed for free with that same error.

i had the same error and did all the free shit and it still didnt work. i just went and bought a new one.

Heres a update if anyone is interested. I got on Xbox's support site and had them send me a UPS shipping label. I went to the UPS store and paid them $4 to box it and send it out. Two weeks later, the Xbox was sent back to my house, no charge and with a new warranty. Big thumbs up to Microsoft.

They seem pretty good about fixing them quick. I sent mine out last monday and got it back in 4 days.
