Troops to retreat if firefights involve homes? WTF?

I was baffled today as I read the story on MSNBC about US to curb firefights inside Afghan homes.

So if we get shot at from someone inside a home we are supposed to break contact.

Again, WTF

Since the enemy has not been real good about lining up like the colonial era british what the fuck are we doing over there?

This is a great addition to my briefings. I am going to my deployment readiness processing this week and will be in-country before xmas. By then we will probably only be allowed to engage with nerf guns at a range of no less than 100 meters.

I was amazed that it came from a general. I completely understand winning the hearts and minds but not at the expense of safety. They are making every contact un-winnable.

reminds me of vietnam, how in the fuck can you win a war when you dont attack?!!! If we cant win, i dont see a damn reason to play the damn game! China and russia told us we couldnt invade, that made the whole thing pointless unless we were going to stay there forever. Same thing in korea.
