Greg Furinox and I went over to Gearheads a few weeks ago to photgraph some customer cars for the web site.
Travis or Chris, let me know if you want copies of the orginal files. Shoot me a PM. Like the new shop by the way!
Here are a few I touched up in photoshop.
Enjoy!

There is alot of post processing there with photoshop. Prolly spent close to an hour on each photo.

Basically, the camera is magic. He won a bet with a leprechaun, and the rest is history.

It's HDR. Not sure if he did it as a true HDR or simulated with 1 image. Then he cartooned them up! (for lack of a better description! :147: )

You also converted the background to black and white on some of them huh? I love that effect.
Did you use some of the standard filters in photoshop?
A few of your pictures are a bit overdone for my taste but they look great man.

Nope no standard PS filters, Nik filters some brushes, and Topaz adjust. The originals were shot in the middle of the day with tons of light blarring in the shop.
Overdone, I make my stuff look grungy. I can take clean shots all day long, but I like my stuff to look different. I've even shot Aston Martin's all grunged out. :D

As a fellow photographer these just aren't working for me. Maybe Gearheads wants this "grungy" sort of look and keeping that in mind there's a couple mistakes I've noticed in multiple photos. The biggest one being that your horizon line is off causing a few pics to be tilted. To me that's something you'd want to have straight, especially if you're doing this for a business.

I didn't see where he said these were the ones that Gearheads was using, I think he said these were just ones that he had "touched up" in photoshop.

Thanks fellow photographer. I know they are not straight. I did that on purpose. I put the photos up here to share with the gearheads crowd. I don't remember soliciting critiques from other photographers. And yes I was after the grungy look. As I said in an earlier post, I can shoot nice looking cars all day long and make em look like thy rolled off the show room floor. Gearheads is a shop, therefore I made them look like they were in a shop. Also, I don't do photography for a business. I shot weddings for 10 years and do the photo thing for the fun of it. Less stress that way.
This photoshoot was a favor for Travis.
Love to see some of your work sometimes.

To break it down you stated it was for the website, which one could only conclude that they were they were taken for gearheads, which has a website for their business.
2nd, the horizon line not being straight looks like an amature mistake. Why in the world would you want a mistake like that on a photo for a business... err (i apologize) a website?
And seriously... you posted on a public forum, get out of here with that "i didn't solicit critiques" shit.

I saw your fireworks photos in another thread. Real nice. Out of focus too. Noticed one of them had the horizon tilted. They make levels for tripods, you know. Thats a real amature mistake you know. But did I poke at your photos, no I didn't. I really don't care what you think of my photos, I don't care if you think they look amature. I didn't ask your advice. So get out of here with that shit.
My photography is subjective. Here is the definition in case you need it.
Def: Subjective photography, broadly, photography undertaken for purposes of self-expression.
Here's what some tripod mouted night shots are supposed to look like. Notice they're in focus.

Pissed someone off, please don't flatter yourself, really. For the fireworks pictures, 1 picture is slightly off and the portion that's off isn't even the main focus of the picture. Excuse me mr.perfect! The horizon line on the other 3 are perfect. They were taken using a tripod, would you care for the exact model for the legs and head? You claim mine are out of focus when your's aren't totally in focus and you post this above? Those two pics don't look any better. Once again, don't flatter yourself.
dmartin78
06-24-2009, 09:25 PM
I'm not looking to flatter myself. But my 10 year old said your photos look out of focus. Also, don't care what type of tripod you have. Your photos are out of focus. Didn't know we were having a photography contest here, but clearly your photos win hands down Ansel Adams.
Go critque someones else work. I'm done arguing with you.

By the way this photo was shot by Easton Chang, one of the best automobile photographers around. Won many worldwide awards. Notice one thing there master photographer, the horizon is not straight!! LOL, Send him a note and let him know his automobile photography sucks.

I'm still working on it. I'm going to make it look like the shot of the blue Gt-500, with the engine showing through the hood. I'll get you some engine bay shots too. Let me know if you want a reshoot after you change things out. I'll be glad to do them for you.
