I really enjoy my wrt54gl. NO problems with it at all running the DD-WRT firmware.

No problems here with the DD-WRT firmware either...but that damn thing does not like to be warm at all. If it is put into a place where it doesn't get some cool fresh air, my wireless connections will constantly train down or start to fluctuate. If I keep it nice and cool, I have no problems.

I've got the same modem. Xbox 360 friendly, no issues at all.

I guess I have the normal firmware though as I haven't updated it. Is it worth updating? What are the benefits?

No sprechen-sie-Engrish. Router, not modem. I have the same as well.

It gives you ALOT more chances to fuck something up. You get options like overclocking, boosting output signal, etc.

Meh, i'll leave it alone for now. I may look into it in the future for the boosted signal due to larger home if I run into issues.

If you don't want to brick your shit with different firmware, just get a better antenna. I got one very similar to this http://www.hawkingtech.com/products/productlist.php?CatID=32&FamID=58&ProdID=214

and it made a world of difference in my 2 story, 3K sqft house. I never had a weakspot after that. It was only like $24.99

I'm still using the original WRT54G V4 with tomato firmware and really like it

DDWRT isnt bad either. I've got it on an airlink I use to segment my network.

After closer inspection, I got a V5 "neutered" router, you know one w/ 2megs flash memory and 8 megs ram. It's NOT recommended to flash this one w/ DD-WRT.

OK, so on to my question.
The Westell router that Verizon gave me is junk. It makes the 4th router in 3yrs of service, so having said that, I'm usin the WRT. Now my question is, how do I bridge the connections on the two routers so that my STB's will receive the guide info?

I have it configured as such: ONT to WRT via Cat5e to Westell via Cat5e to STB's via Coax. When it was installed, they set it up "MoCa" so I called Verizon and had them open the Cat5 port on the ONT so I could use my WRT.

TIA for any help,
Bryan
