Yeah, i'm on the fence about Gabby. I'm thinking he's going to be like another Hossa. And as far as Heater goes, i don't think he wants to leave Canada. I bet the Oilers nab him.

He has already submitted a list of teams that he would waive his NTC to go to and LA was on it. When it comes to getting value back they are the only ones that have what Ottawa would really want (young defensemen and LA has a stockpile of them)
Gaborik wants 7-8 million a year but can't stay healthy for more than 20 games a year. Supposedly he had been misdiagnosed as far as what was wrong. They kept saying groin but it was actually hip. If the Pens were smart they wouldn't spend that kind of money on one player as they already have too much committed to a small number of players.

Oh, i didn't see "the list", and didn't know there was one. It'd be nice and smart to go to the Pens, but i don't think there is any way they could afford him. He's in his 1st season of 6 for $45m, and that's not cheap. Even though the Pens are at what, $43ish on cap right now? I still don't see room for Heater. I wouldn't go after Gabby.

I don't know, it just doesn't. At least preseason we get to see some skating. I know they make trades to get better picks, but not that many trades for me to get excited about.

Yay I can see 18 guys skate that won't play in the NHL for 2 years or at all! They make trades for players as well. For fuck's sake you get excited about the trade deadline but not the draft?

Man, that makes no sense! The same happens for draftees too. Unless your in the top 15, you may/may not see NHL playing time for a while.

Do I really have to break it all the way down? You have players with big contracts that will be forced to move. Pronger for example. More than likely players like that are traded at the draft. I think this heat is getting to you or you need to find a game that is a bit more simple like tennis.

I know this, and i understand all of this, but don't get all butthurt at me just because IIIII don't get excited about the draft. To each his own right? I don't care that much about pre-season either, but at least its something to watch after this lull we have during the summer.

The Boston Bruins are in pursuit of Tomas Kaberle and a top 10 pick in today's draft.
Sources tell TSN the Bruins have offered restricted free agent forward Phil Kessel to Toronto in exchange for the Leaf defenceman and Toronto's No. 7 pick in the draft.
The Leafs are apparently canvassing the league to see if there are any better offers out there.

Yeah, that was kind of shitty deal too. Smyth doesn't fit the bill for the Queens at all. Thats a young team, and to stick someone in there like Smyth i think will disrupt the flow of ages. But, that's just my opinion. I'm sure Lanny will jump in here when he gets back to comment on my opinion. ;)

I have to agree with you. We have all this young talent and after so many bad seasons, the teams is actually very close to having a team that can make the playoffs. The last thing I want to see is Lombardi send our youngsters off for another over the hill 30 goal scorer who's going to come in for 1 or 2 seasons only to fade into obscurity. Ryan Smyth is a player you add to a contending team to get over the hump. Not a team that is finishing up the rebuilding process.

After spending his entire 13-year career in Montreal, Saku Koivu will be calling Orange County his home. The Anaheim Ducks have signed the free agent centre to a one-year, $3.25 million contract. Koivu, 34, had been the Canadiens' second-longest serving captain in team history.
