That extra cover will definetly come in handy. We're looking to add on a cover as well too but with a roof to match the roof on the house.

Looks quality! You guys building it up yourselves? Probably connects to the living room? That'll keep it cooler in there for sure...

The company I'm using will come out and measure and then just sell you the supplies if you want to DIY. They gave me a real good deal on the labor though, so I bit the bullet and just had them install it. After over a year of trying to decide what I wanted I went with this type for the insulated top, and the no maintenance baked aluminum finish. And yeah, it connects to the living room so I'm hoping that side of the house will stay cooler.
How's your house coming Skid?

If you don't mind my asking, how much did it end up costing you?
I think it looks pretty damn good. I would probably end up doing it myself, but that's just me. The only thing I would suggest is adding a misting system on to it so you can enjoy it on even the hottest days...
Again really good looking. I looks like it belongs there.

His quote came to $3,889.96 after tax and everything, and then he said let's just make it $3,800 even. I'm sure some on here will post about how stupid I am for paying that much etc, etc, etc...
I think I'll be happier though in the long run with the aluminum because all you have to do is rinse it off. I don't have to worry about repainting it, rust, or worry about it rotting like wood. I also really do believe the insulated top is cooler underneath. Some people think it's BS, but I like it. I also have the option of adding walls and enclosing it later, and the insulated roof would be a plus for that.
If you want me to, I'll call them up and ask what the price was if they just supplied the stuff and I did the work. He said they do that a lot for people who want to save on cost of installation.
And the misting system is the reason I finally chose the aluminum cover. I will add that next summer.

The concrete cost $1,200 and that was with a discount from a friend. The cover is aluminum made to look like wood, so you never have to paint it or anything. Send me a PM if you want the names of the companies I used for each one. The company who did the cover will sell a DIY kit if you want to install it yourself to save on the labor.

I don't think taht price was too bad, I actually expected you to say more. Do you know what the labor / materials breakdown was (if you just buy the kit)?
Once you get that fan up you will have a nice, long lasting patio that you can get a lot of use out of. Congrats!

Not really a breakdown, but I emailed the guy and he said that most of his DIY kits go for $15 per square foot.
