View Full Version : Hot Tub Hookup Needed(220V electrical)

Does anyone have any references or hookups to install 220v in my backyard.
I think I need a 60amp breaker installed in my current box, about 20 ft of 6 gauge cable ran, and a nice grounding rod installed.
I am located in Hurst.
I want the job done right and have an idea of cost, but just checking my options here.
Any suggestions or references would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin

I imagine all tubs are different, but my tub has two motors and we did a 50 amp breaker. When measuring it with both motors going it is aroun 30-35 amps (can't remember exactly right now)

That cost me 700 dollars at the time for the run from the garage to the back yard via the attic. It's a ranch style home so it was a fairly long run. I thought it was expensive, but did not care since I rushed it and the electrician did a very good job. However, I went to Lowes and started pricing materials and decided I could've only save a couple hundred doing it myself - so I'm not sure another electrician would've done it MUCH cheaper. (600 maybe?) Especially in the heat I'm not regretting it.

Anyway, I no longer have that electricians info. However, if you bought it new they usually have electricians they recommend. Also, if you do a search in this forum a few of us have asked about electricians and gotten responses. Maybe hard to find though.

Thank you for the response.
I bought the hot tub used and my circuit breaker box is located out back.
I bought a pretty nice American made hot tub that has two motors and the instructions state to use a 60amp breaker for all functions of the hot tub to work properly.
The wire will be very easy to run and I am expecting to pay around $600ish.
I was just trying to see my options here and if anyone on here was a licensed electrician.

I'm going to need the same thing in the next few weeks, and I have and electrician that just put all new breaker boxes (2 or them)in my house along with some new wiring. Cost was reasonable considering the extreme time frame I had and how quick they did all the work. I'll find his number and give him a call when i get a chance. Maybe I'll have some info for you this week.

Do you have any idea what you paid for all that to be done?

I have called around and so far, MILK has the best prices yet.
