Shocking a pool...

Just out of curiosity, how do you guys do it?

Do you sprinkle the shock all over the pool or do you pour it into the skimmer?

I'm curious as to what is the "right" way to do it...

I sprinkle 1lb around the pool. In heavy use I'll do 1lb around the pool and another lb in the skimmer...

i have a big ass pool and i just put what i need in a bucket and walk around the pool and sprinkle it in. only problem is the granules will flow to certain areas and may not break down. so later i go back and i brush my pool.
need to brush the pool anyways every so often.

walk around the edge + sprinkle. throw a few batches in the middle if it's not windy

how's the pool coming? did you wind up draining it?

i mix it in a bucket with water then go around and throw it in all over the place, i think its 22,000 gallons or 30

Pool is awesome now. Took a couple of weeks of busting my butt getting it there. I basically kept it nasty filled it all the way up, shocked the sh*t out of it, had the top two skimmers going and then I got to see all the nasty stuff on the bottom. I scooped all the nasty stuff out, then vacuumed the rest out. Then Scrubbed like crazy and ran the pumps, backwashed, and repeated a bunch of times.

Oh and a ton of algae cleaner. It was nice and blue yesterday until my family from Mexico came for vacation and invaded it today. Time to super shock it tonight. It's amazing what a bunch of Mexicans in my pool can do to it. :D

my pool is a love and hate thing. i love it one day then i hate it the next,especially when i have to clean it. i have 3 girls in my house and not one will take the time to check the skimmers or get the leaves :yell: "once in a blue moon"will they do such a thing
everyone of them want to get in the pool but will turn their noses up when its a tad bit dirty.
so after a hard, long, hot day at work.i get the pleasures of making all 3 ladies happy that i love dearly. they get to stand in the house and watch me sweat my ass off and try and hurry up and clean the ever loving POOL.
