Homeownership. :damnit1:
So after this last bunch of storms (that of course we were out of town for) we come back with a minor leak in our living room. We can tell that a couple of shingles were torn off (our house is 3 years old, so it's not like it's an old roof.) The dry wall around the vent where it's leaking is still slightly soft, and I don't want the problem to get worse.
Is this a DIY fix job, or am I retarded for thinking I can fix this myself? Also, does anyone have recommendations for someone that can check this out? I'm in Fort Worth by Eagle Mountain Lake.

File a claim with your insurance..If you need a roofer let me know, i have one that will absorb your deductible...and do a great job in the process...

on the same topic, we only had damage to one side of our roof. Had a roofer come out and look at it and said that it would be about $3K to do that side and our deductible is also $3K which sucks. He said besides the hail dents in the shingles there is no other damage and no leaks anywhere.
So how important is it to replace the shingles just cause they are dented? He said we could wait til the next hail storm and hope the whole roof gets screwed and get an entire roof. What do you guys think? Wait it out for the next round of hail storms?
PM BlownAltered, he owns a roofing company.

1st I'd start with getting some quotes lined up and talking with your insurance company.
While doing all that, climb your ass up there and look at it. If shingles are missing that would be step one to fix. Also fixing any other holes..etc and looking for additional damage. It SOUNDS like you should be able to fix it with some slicon and shingles. Still, prep for both.

Good call. Got up on the roof today (we have a two story house.) My husband came out, horrified. He's not so much of a do it yourselfer and was utterly freaked out that his wife was stomping around on the roof.
Everyone that PMed me- thanks. I'll get back to you with what I found and see what you think and if we can work together.
