If it just to be a hot tub pad, do it yourself and save a lot of money. It isn't hard at all.

Home Depot and Lowes both have multiple books on the subject.

I built mine for less than $500. But this was mainly because I found a huge cache of lumber on sale on Craigslist. I got it for only $100 and had so much left over that I had to give it away to another DFWstangs member.

And my deck isn't what I could call, small...

As much as I over engineered it, it probably could.

However, if you are setting the hot tub on the actual deck, you need to get the weight of the hottub (when full of water) and check out those deck building books for things like joist size and spacing.

You might also want to consider putting the hot tub on a concrete slab and building the deck around it.

It is best to put it on a concrete slab and build the deck around it. The tub along will weigh close to 500, throw in another 300 gallons at 8 pounds each and you have close to 3000 lbs sitting on about 45 sq feet. Then throw in 4 to 6 adults and it gets even worse. By putting it on a slab it will also be easier to get in/out with the deck sitting above it.
