How much sodium should the average person take in? I'm 6" 190lbs and have no clue how much sodium I should be taking in each day, or how much is too much. The past few months I have really started counting calories, carbs, fat, etc.... the one thing I haven't paid much attention to is sodium, so I need some input here.
sodium is a necessity but not in excess. A normal diet should be around 2g (2000mg). You will find most premade foods are salted to hell and you will be way over. Renal patients at the hospital are not allowed over 2g due to their kidney functions as well as patients with high blood pressure. Im sure +- 300mg is fine. But take my info with a grain of salt, most people on the board will say dietitians dont have a clue what they are talking about and are the biggest morons ever.
