So, I thought I had a good spot until I asked a buddy where he rode and his way made sense too. Where do you ride within the lane say if your in the fast lane? Do you ride towards(left) the shoulder away from the middle lane or next(right) to the middle lane.

I first rode near the shoulder away from the cars. Just to keep space from the cars in middle lane. My buddy said to ride to the inside of the lane so cars in middle lane and cars in front of you can see you in their mirrors and you'd still have space to slide over if they do come over?

What do you guys do or think?

When i was riding i would always be in the spot i would be most seen. Plus this made it so i could see the other idiots on the road.

As your buddy mentioned, I temd to try to place myself where I can be seen by the cars in the lane I'm in, and by the lane right next to that one.

Your buddy is right, you should always ride where you're most visible. And since you are in the far left lane, there is still plenty of room to make an evasive move if necessary.

If I'm following a car, I put my headlights in the drivers side mirror.

I ride where I can either see around or through the car in front of me. When I was in Dallas and rode in the HOV lane I rode in the middle to far left of the HOV lane incase some idiot decided to get in the HOV lane by crossing over the solid line instead of waiting for the legal spot to do it.

I always put myself in view of people...so i try to make sure im in their mirror at all times.

In the HOV when traffic is heavy I ride to the left just in case some dummy trys to cut into the HOV.

I try to ride where I can be best seen, but still leave myself room to escape. Of course I mostly try and ride where there aren't a lot of cars. In those instances I ride wherever it is smoothest.

i'm pretty sure in the motorcycle test book it said to ride in the lane away from traffic if you are able to. For me it's just based on speed. With a speed limit of 45mph i'll ride wherever feels best. Less oil, smoother, hot chick in the car next to me, whatever. If i'm on the hwy at a healthy cruise say 85-90 i always ride the shoulder side of the lane.

cool guys thanks for the input. I just try to be seen by the car in front of me and the car next to me if im in the fast lane. SO i ride to the right of the fast with plenty of room to exscape and still being seen by the drivers side mirror of the car in the middle lane...
