Did some searching in the forum and didn't find an answer. I work from home so I have the added benefit of being able to workout in the morning. That said, should I eat something before I work out? I have heard both sides to the story but wanted to see what everyone else does.

I've always been told after because your body has already burnt off all the carbs and you'll be burning more fat. Plus I'm always hungry as hell after working out so it works out.

Your most important meal of the day should be right after your workouts.
This is when your muscles are depleated and can absorb the greatest amount of nutrients.

My favorite post workout meal is a tablespoon of natural honey straght on the tongue to spike insulin response, and then a protein shake made wih skim milk, glutamine, and raw oats.

It's causes your body to uptake more glycogen and amino acids than usual, to be used as fuel for muscle reapair. There are bodybuilders that actually use inulin with greater effect, but natural sugar is FAR safer, even if it isn't as effective.

it has something to do with glycogen and cortisol levels and if it helps is debatable, but i just do it because i take halovar and it recommends a high glycemic shake when you take it.

Dietary changes absolutely have an effect, but it is no where near as pronounced as something like taking a pro-hormone. It's no different than adding a few grams of protein or ingesting glutamine post-workout. You aren't gonna "blow up", but it will definitely have a positive effect over the next year.

Supplementing insulin is scary. It will cause your body to start slowing down on the insulin output and over time will cause your pancreas to stop functioning.

I'm not suggesting that, bodybuilders do it as their career depends on being the biggest/best, an amateur lifter would have to be stupid to consider messing with pancreatic function like that.
Honey, on the other hand, is harmless. ;)
