Even when your on the track make sure to keep your eyes out for your surroundings. Got a call from my dad this morning stating that a lady we both worked with had been killed in a motorcycle race yesterday morning. She and her husband have been racing motorcycles for years, from the police and track reports they were saying that someone was out on the track to clear off some debris during the race. She hit the person and they were both killed. There's conflicting stories to be worked out by police to see what really happened, the track is stating that the person killed was a volunteer and was not paid by the track, but others have stated that it was a spotter who works for the track. Officials say that there was a dead bird on the track that the person attempted to remove, but one of the racers that was just a short ways ahead of the lady we knew said it was a knee pad that was on the track. They have not released what part of the track they died on but it's sad that her husband was racing in the same race and was just 20 seconds in front of her.

Be safe out there fellas, even at the track.

i have worked races at both MSR and Eagle's Canyon. This is a sad story, but the track worker/spotter needed to be more aware. I have assisted in numerous wrecks and the track gets really wide when bike are traveling at you at high speeds. You really have to be on your game when entering the track on foot! This is a sad situation for all involved! RIP to the two that passed!
