How many calories per day do some of you taller people eat? I'm always hungry and I'm not even sure how many calories a day I should eat to start losing weight. 6'11", 300. Thoughts?

I'm trying to stick to 1200 calories a day, but I haven't been in the gym in a while with a busy schedule. Back when I'm working out again, I'll probably step it up to the 1500-1800 range, with a 60/20/20 pro/carb/fat ratio.

Eating smaller meals will curb that hunger in no time. I can't eat anywhere near what I used to, and I'm rarely, "hungry". Especially taking the hyperdrive 2 in the morning before work. A lot of times, I have to remind myself to eat.

I'm 6'5 and was 305lbs. I just got myself on a 1500 calaroie diet a few weeks ago and now 297-296. I really need to start exercising, but I have been working 4:30am to 7:pm, and really have no time to fit any in right now.

you have done it before, you just never stick to the diet. Eat clean and do your cardio and you will get results. You always do but fall off the wagon to easily. Maybe if you didnt live all the way over in Frisco we could work out.

I eat 5,000-7,000 calories a day and eat VERY clean each and every day.

my biggest issue is at night. i do fine during the day. i think it's the 5-12PM window that is killer cause it's so long.

The easiest and most user friendly online tool that I have found is www.myfitnesspal.com. It tracks calories in versus calories out and calculates your intake based on your goals. Give it a try! I didn't realize how easily they can stack up - even if you're eating healthy.

I am having to keep my intake at 1200 per day and I am hungry... almost all of the time. It sucks. lol

Yeah I use the dailyplate... sounds like the same thing.

I didn't realize how much crap I was eating through the day(11-15 hours in front of the computer working) until I started keeping track. I was eating nearly 3000 calories a day and doing nothing but sitting on my ass.

Figured Cutting that in half would atleast help.

during that time is when i focus my snacks around 95% protein.

Beef jerky, chicken breast, boiled eggs, etc.

Once you get used to crossing the stomach size, hunger issues (a few months), it really tends to go away.

A few months? Shit. I was hoping this only took a week or two. I'm damn near miserable sometimes. lol

I'm always hungry. I have just learned to make myself eat small little 100 calorie snacks here and there. Even now and then I will get hungry but ill force myself to wait 30minutes-hour.

you aren't physically hungry, it's all in the mind. You've fooled yourself into thinking that you need to eat that much, that often

That is how my husband is. Do you know how hard it is to be in a relationship with someone that can and will eat literally whatever he wants - whenever he wants?! Ugh. I get really grumpy late at night while he's pigging out on whatever he can find while my stomach is rumbling. I end up just going to bed. lol

Here you go...

http://mayoclinic.com/health/calorie-calculator/NU00598

That calculator will calculate roughly what you need in a day to maintain your weight. Start there and subtract 500 calories from it and exercise/work out another 400 or so and have a good deficit of 900-1000 calories. 1lb of fat is 3500 calories.

Im only 5'8" and 190

I'm 6'1" and 187, down from 225. I'm getting into the muscle building portion of my goals, and I'm having a bitch of a time getting just 3,000 calories of clean food in me. I usually end up with 2,000. However, I've always had a slow metabolism too.

Back when I was a fatass, this wasn't a problem. I had to teach myself to eat less in order to lose weight, but I swear teaching myself to eat more is more difficult.

I'm about to force down a half of a tuna sandwich. Wish me luck.

what do you normally eat?

Fruit, beef jerky, eggs, milk, zero fat yogart, fish, scrimp, protein galore, brown rice, veggies,
chicken, more chicken, and extra chicken

I cook all of my food, besides genghis grill, kfc grilled chicken, and chipotle on rare occasion.
Some of my meals are almost 4-5lbs of food.

Yea, eating unhealthy will actually require you to eat less food than eating healthy.
This is attributed to the 9 calories to 1 gram of fat and 4 calories to 1 gram of carb or protein ratio rule.

1500 calories = my protein shake, lol.

LOL, don't give me that!
I'm definately an office folk and I burn quite a few calories during the day myself.
I have trained my body to do this.

Update:

I started doing this Sunday. I weighed in Saturday night at 305. I did my caloric intake based upon my body weight * 6 so on average I've been consuming about 1800 calories per day. I have worked out on average 1 1/2 hours per day using the recumbant bike, treadmill and elliptical. Got on the scale this morning and was 290.5. Lots of fiber, vegetables, fruit and protien. No processed food.

Awesome! Congrats! ...Hows the water intake?

I will agree with Stangin4Lyfe that's really difficult to eat the proper amount of calories under a clean diet. Back in 2004 I started changing my intake of food to nothing processed and clean everything. I haven't looked back. I find it difficult that my body wants to consumse so much more after eating what looks to be a huge healthy meal. When I started lifting heavy, it took me a year to put on 18 lbs of muscle. My workouts were extreme with the Corps and all but I did it the right way... Until anabolics, but whatever....

Good luck with it and hopefully it will become a way of life for you too.
