What are ya'll using for the physical security side? I parked at a movie theater and was a little paranoid about leaving it outside without some piece of mind.

I've got lojack installed and was thinking of getting an armored cable or a disc lock. I thought about the throttle/front brake cover as it is a pretty visible item. Won't help if someone tries to lift it into a truck, but that's what lojack is for.

Are perimeter alarms even worth it?

Just get theft insurance and park it near a nicer/more expensive bike and hope they only have room for one bike in the back of their truck/van.

Get a kryptonite chain that is the best investment by far I have ever made, it has saved my bike a couple of times, you can get them at bike shops and home depot. Also can be used for any thing that needs to be locked up. Alarms are worthless!! https://www.kryptonitelock.com/products/list.aspx?cid=1000&scid=1002 :sadwavey:

The Fahgettaboudit chain from Krytonite was one of the options I was considering. I don't carry crap in the "trunk" so I don't really carry about weight.

Get the one with the bigger links. Use a quality disc lock on the rear wheel. Both can be disabled, but it's going to slow them down.

I feel pretty good about this combo if you're parked somewhere that's not part of your routine and is highly visible.

If you're parking in an apt everyday or large office parking lot etc. sooner or later someone will steal it despite the chain and lock, but I feel like they would pass it by at a movie theater.

Not sure what you ride, but nothing of size has fit in any bike I've owned over the last few years. I keep my chain in my back pack.

I have a large chain lock on mine as well as the Xena disc lock alarm. 110db alarm goes off if the bike is moved at all and keeps going off till it stops. Oh and a bike cover

Bike is secured in a garage when at home - no worries there.

I'm more concerned about the movie/resturant. I park close to foot traffic, no BFE north 40 parking for me.

I ride an 04 triumph daytona

So get one of the Xena alarms. They are a rotor lock so on its own it prevents some jackass from hotwiring it and riding off. And the alarm has an accelerometer that even if you stand it up a couple degrees the alarm will go off. Hell I can go up to it and kick the tire pretty good and it will set it off. I've had windy nights where it wouldn't stop going off either just from a strong breeze.

Pay for theft insurance and then don't worry. Bikes are easy to steal, and even if it is recovered, they are usually trash when you get them back. (of course we have our own exception on this site). If it gets stolen, just buy a new one with the check from the insurance.
