I can't say I'm a sony fan, but the TV has good reviews - it's affordable. Most people complain about the cheap remote, 10w speakers, and lack of features - but if you're using your own remote, and you have a sound system then that negates most of the complaints. Some people complain about the sony's loss of colors at angles, but that's typical for any TV in this pricerange.

Well I ordered the TV last night through Dell Online. I have an account with Dell and I usually order my desktops through them and some other electronics if the price is right.

$999 for the TV. Free shipping. Paid $150 for the 2 year extended warranty. $95 in taxes. Grand total of $1242.

I dont know about that model but the 32" Bravias that are setup for demo in the Blockbusters look damned sweet. They are usually running BluRay content and the picture is so detailed it looks like candy. I looked for one for our bedroom but went with a 50" 1080p LG LCD instead because it was larger and cheaper.

The Sony will hold its value better than others as well. Sony electronics has a huge following.

I'm pretty happy with the price I got on it. It'll be the most expensive TV I've ever bought, my first 1080p, and my first Sony. About the only negative thing I've read about it is the slow turn on time but that's cool with me.

That's a great deal Jose, and by start up time it takes about 3 sec., I don't think that's slow, hell tube TV's take that long if not longer. Wait til you see a blu-ray in 1080p, you won't go back to the movies.:wave:

Especially when you can get alot of the current movies in the theaters in blue ray format to burn on torrent sites...I'm just sayin; :)

Thanks Henry. I hear the startup time is actually a little longer but that's cool. I've been holding off buying a Blue-Ray for some time because of the additional cost of the player and the disk and also the fact that I didn't have a TV that would support it (my other TV is 720). Now I've gotta look for a stand :(

I've never cared for wall mounting but this particular room doesn't lend itself for mounting on the wall (it's a patio/sun room with lots of windows) so a stand is what I'm going to go with.

Just an update. Set the TV up last Thursday and got some HD action going on with some NBA games. Also watched some Discovery HD. Not a huge improvement over my 42" Plasma other than the bigger screen (both viewing 720P content). Navigation through the Sony menus is pretty easy and the start up times aren't that bad after the first couple of 13-15 turn on's but now it's a fairly quick 5-7 second turn on time.

The connections on the back are certainly the easiest I've ever seen on a TV. Everything is easily accessible and there are some side auxiliary connections for plugging things on the fly if the back isn't accessible.

Other than that I picked up a very good condition Sony TV stand on Craiglist for $50. Now I'll be shopping for a Blu-Ray player next :147:

I'm not buying a PS3 just to watch Blu-Rays. I've got a PS2 that's been sitting unplayed for probably 3 or 4 years. I just don't play console games and would rather get a good Blu-Ray player that's cheaper than the PS3.

just read the other day that only 33% of U.S. households have at least 1 high definition tv. So you might be wrong there.


I've seen alot of bravia's inside of customer's houses, and the 1080 rocks:D. Since you're only getting 720 I'm guessing you have time warner or charter?

You need to connect to Direct TV HD the're channels are in 1080i which is a huge difference IMO.

Sony LCDs are good. Only reason I didnt buy a Sony was because they were all fn silver when I was buying vs the samsung and it's brilliant small bordered piano black finish. They look much better now.
