James Rose
DALLAS - You've probably seen motorcyclists speeding up and down the highways in the metroplex. State troopers say they are a danger to themselves and the public. But in this Street Squad segment, FOX 4's James Rose takes a closer look at why they do it -- and what happens with they wreck.

Saw it last night. Couldn't believe they showed footage of a guy getting cut in two when he collided with a light pole.

Why not? Remember when that LEO ran over that kid that darted across the street on his bicycle? They showed that, and it was more tragic IMO, being a child and all.

Kudos to them. Let this serve as a fair warning to Bubbles and the rest of the "I've got to prove just how small my cock is" crowd.

It's a grim reminder of how quickly u can lose your life or get maimed. I get folks who ask me all the time. (they don't ride) "How fast is that thing" I always say "what? Top speed?" I go to say "About 180mph" They ask "ever had it that fast" I say...."no. There's no point"

there are times and places for stunting and going fast....

some people just done know how to control themselves...

stunting on the street has its place..... is it at 100 mph with cars behind you no...

Same thing goes with speeding....

Its funny how people bitch about this kinda thing but street race in a car.... both are very dangerous sports....

All I saw are people that dont know how to control their bikes at all!! To many out there that think they know how to ride because they can go straight. These kids need to learn how to properly control their bikes and slow the fuck down!

I don't care how experienced you are, stunting/extreme speeding on an open public road is stupid.

I don't care about the stunters, just don't do the rolling roadblock bullshit on bush/tollway and slow everyone else down to 40mph to watch. Like it was said above, There's a time and place for everything.

Notice I did not agree with any of those things... No one can control outside elements or the 200000000000 non driving idiots out there.

there are too many outside factors in street racing and stunting to ever be considered in control, imo. also, stunting on the street does not have its place. public roads are not your private playground, go rent an abandoned airfield if you want to do that stuff. also, neither street racing nor stunting are sports. i will probably get some shit for saying that they're not sports, but i don't really care. nobody has the right to endanger other peoples' lives like they do when they do those things. no i don't ride often or own a motorcycle, and no i don't street race, but it's just common sense that you shouldn't be endangering other people like that.

If the media is now focusing on bikes does that mean it's okay for all of us to start street racing again???

I miss the old school street races. Roll racing is gay and much more dangerous for the innocent.

For what it's worth, I was headed home somewhat late last Wednesday. Had been out with a customer of mine. Had to jump off at NW Hwy, to get gas. I stopped in at that little Texaco a few lots down from Whataburger, and took California Crossing over to Riverside to get home. While filling up, I saw no less than 25 cars roll by, that were obviously out to race. When I headed down California Crossing, that little street that dumps off to 114 was PACKED. Completely blocked off. Hundreds of cars and bikes back there. The cops were just chilling in the Whataburger parking lot, with their lights on, but the lot was still packed. Reminded me of old times. lol. I did have to park and watch the races for a few minutes, before returning home.

Im sure people do. But it just gets to me how the media likes to use all of these adjectives to make it sound more dramatic. They couldnt just say motorcycle, it has to be super-double-turbocharged with afterburners or some shit

No, it's still there. It's the first tollway video. Dude hits the barrier, then the light pole, and it almost looks as if it ripped him in half. I wouldn't really call it graphic, because on the video, you can't really tell if it's limbs or riding gear that went flying off in different directions.

and both are sports... :)

Frankly, I think the video could have been more graphic. And instead of interviewing the lucky SOB that survived 130 mph rear-end, how about interviewing family and friends of the idiots that didn't survive, or the innocents that are injured by the stunts? One of the main things I don't miss about Dallas freeways are the stupid riders. To all other sane riders, be well.

I didn't hear anything new in that story....or in the replys.

I will say that I think these stories (and even some of the replies that I find so entertaining) do serve a valuable purpose. For those younger riders who may not have been riding long enough to fully understand the consequences of stunting/racing, it does show them what can happen. And I think that is a good thing.

For guys that have been around long enough and accept the consequences, it just sounds sensational and sometimes even preachy.

I don't ride nearly as much as I used to (3-4x/year), but when I do, there's nothing like riding the streets and fuckin around in traffic. That's the choice I make, and I'll deal with all the risks and consequences as they come...as I have been for the past 10yrs.

I just in general avoid all bikers since you never know when they are going to have a retard attack. Past that if they f' up and I run them over their sorry ass is dead while I gotta live with having killed someone because they are a retard.

Hell, with the government/legal system these days their family could probably sue and I'd go to jail over it.

No, street racing probably should not be considered any better.

We just went riding last night. You don't have to be going 100+ just to have a nice ride. We just enjoyed the nice weather and cruised around Dallas for a bit.

That video freaked me out.
