Well I decided I have to have an M1 Garand. One of the soldiers I drill with said he had a good time buying from CMP and got a good rifle.

Just looking to see if anyone else has experience with the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program)?

Ive bought 6 or so from them. But it's been a while, so I dont know if they've changed the process or not.

I do know the easiest way is just to go to Anniston and buy one. beats waiting the 6 months or whatever it's taking to get them by mail these days.

I'll be at the CMP in Alabama on the 16th buying all the M1's that will fit into my car.

well if it wasn't illegal I would definately ask you to buy one for me and I would give some extra for the effort...

I guess I will wait and see if you decide to sell any...

Anyone have their C&R. I submitted to have the paperwork sent to me

I have mine, got it a few months ago... about the only thing I've bought so far are parts for guns I already have. I was pleasantly surprised by the discounts from Brownells and Midway...

I'm waiting for the market to settle down before I start buying guns again... I'm with you on buying a Garand... I need to get one... I think I want to buy one that I can refinish to be a shooter and not have to worry about the "collector" value...

It's one of the satisfactory doings of a requirement. A CHL also meets the criteria

sweet.

City of Becker has yearly raffle for Garand from CMP. My luck hasn't yielded satisfactory results. So may have to start saving up for one. Are those Kimber 22LR any good?

To qualify for the CMP you need (easiest way):

Be of legal age to purchase a gun
Be affiliated with a CMP associated club (Garand Collectors Association)
Have a Range officer watch you shoot and fill out your form.
Get order form noterized, before you send in your order.
Thats it

Well........also lots of money to buy guns. Buying from the CMP is addicting
