so i was going about 100-120 down GBT, didn't see any cops
but i got caught up to about 5 min later by a trooper well off the freeway at that point a couple lights down the road
besides the complaints about the license plate way tucked , no mirrors , etc
WARNING for speeding
Sweet!
I don't think he radared me or anything but he cut me a break.
So keep your trap shut and be a good sport!
You might be as lucky as me. Second time I've been pulled over moving REAL quick and not gotten written.
It's kind of amazing how they come out of nowhere to catch up, because I'm always lookin

I got pulled over by a Garland cop trying to get to the hospital when my girls water broke. She wasn't with me at the time so I was meeting her and her mom there. I fully expected the cop to think I was completely full of shit but he let me go within a couple minutes of pulling me over. However I was only doing 10 over the limit not DOUBLING IT at 120!!

Because theres a trooper that lives in town...and he LOVES fucking with bikes..so much as he will just pull you over to check everything out. He went so far as to checking to make sure my helmet was DOT approved, inspection, registration, insurance, tire tread depth, checked the VIN. It was stupid....he just said it was routine.....BULLSHIT!

At least a speeding ticket is something worthwhile that you can talk about.

...yeah, I got a ticket for 80 in a 45...yeah...and everyone else tells their story.

me...

I do the speed limit.

Get pulled over and 2 tickets for inspection and something else...registration...had the sticker at home, just forgot to put it on. (drive the car a few times a year)

Not really conversation material.

Now....ive been pulled over for speeding ONCE by a trooper and he was cool...only because he rode too.

137 in a 55....just got a speeding ticket nothing more. He let me go because i was the only one on that road other than him obviously.

I don't mind getting pulled on the bike every now and again. Lets me know that if some dickhead steals mine and decides to take it for a spin it may be pulled as well and possibly recovered.

Don't ride like a jerkoff, and you probably won't get fucked with.

Yep all troopers do is traffic stuff. Plus with the amount of idiots rolling around on stolens any special plate placement will get you stopped. I have only wrote one bike I stopped. I only wrote him 3 of 7 violations. He was speeding, rolled a stop sign, reg went out 3 years prior, no insp, no mc license, no insurance, and he wasnt wearing his helmet. He was polite, pulled right over, and had a good story about just buying it and the guy holding the title so I wrote him the ones that would not mess with his license. He coulda easily went to jail and towed that POS bike.

I guess what i was trying to say was-
if your rollin hard and moving fast , they're probably gonna see or hear it and want to catch up.
That's all fine with me, I'm the one breaking the law - they should do their jobs.
But if you guys be cool, he might cut you a break since he didn't get you on radar.
Now plenty of cops would just guess at the speed and write you but they don't HAVE TO.
I keep my eyes peeled , but even that isn't enough.
Man i need a quieter slip on, the fiberglass all came out of mine.
I've been trying hard to keep all my shit 100% legal (ok except the plate and mirrors)
so that will help you a lot IMO.
But it always seems like the tires get bald right about when inspection is due DOH!@dammit!

I gotta admit i was highly tempted to kick one off the other day when some damn messicans where towing a trailor and I got hit by a good size rock that came out , right in the knee
I was a good ways back, and they didn't have jack shit secured on it.
cops should fuck with them! thats a fuckin serious hazard and all I was tryin gto do was get around him
yet they do it all the time....

It's not a necessity, but their discretion. They hold the right to inspect your equipment when you're on a public roadway. If you don't like it, walk.

I have no problem with a trooper pulling me over on the bike for any reason and checking whatever they want. They are the only reason I have a bike in the driveway right now.

You can not go to jail for speeding alone. Now if this was reckless driving thats a different story. Or trying to elude.

wrong , 25 over the limit any where in Tejas and they can take you to jail.
ive been issued a few 25 plus overspeed and never been taken in
it's officer discretion as i understand it, but they can take you in.

Then the charge is not just speeding. Take me in for nothing more than just "speeding." I dare ya. Or even open container, for that matter.

You know Kingjason is a cop, right?

He is absolutely correct. A person cannot be arrested for speeding alone, there has to be another charge.

It could be argued that 25 over IS wreckless driving, thus going to jail.

There is no defined speed to be construed as reckless driving. Reckless driving is considered based on the conditions of the incident during the offense. :ie: School zone, dense traffic, etc.

I had two GSXR's, me and my brother in law were riding on the GBturnpike. clocked by irving doing 155. we pulled over. Brother in law went to jail. since I was the owner of both bikes he did not impound/tow the bike. had to wait for a Rider to come from Midlothian to ride it back to my house in Arlington. The Irving cop asked why se stopped...... I could not believe it, he told me most bikes dont stop and the do not pursue bikes. he did not write me a ticket but threw the book at my brother in law. 1/2 cool.

BTW sold one and traded the other for my 68 mustang.

As any offense, but then the charge wouldn't be speeding, now, would it?

LOL I have had many conversations with the judge over this so I think I might have an idea. I even went so far as to ask if they were going to jail for warrants out of ten different agencies then could I instanter (jail for the ticket) them on a speeding ticket. The judge said he see's my point but nope. Open container is the only other no arrest class C.

ohh they will take you to jail for whatever they can. I got taken to jail in NRH I was on my bike and I didnt use my blinkers to switch lanes and following to close to a vehical. that what they charged me with. sucked. It is at the officers discretion

You're missing the point. Of all the fun little Class C stuff they can write you for/arrest you for, open container and speeding are not on the list for arrest. If the cop didn't like you, yeah... you can get arrested for no blinker/following too close.

Lol, more details?

so i was going home from irving (2am ) i was on 183, got on 360 going towards arlington, and i see a red camaro coming from behind so the guy gave me the highbeams and we lined up going like about 60 i turned the bottle on and honked it off when i shifted into 5th gear i was already doing 140+ (stock gears) the camaro was already 3-5 cars behind so i figured might as well empty the bottle so i kept going and finally decided to slow down and as soon as i did i saw a cop car coming real fast from behind (by this time i was already going 60 ) he looked @ me and pointed his finger to the emergency lane and stopped in front of me he came out the car threading me with his gun saying "ARE YOU READY TO GO JAIL ?" i was like wtf !! he opened the door basically threw me in the floor and said you kids don't think before you do this stuff you're not just putting your life in danger but everyone elses life too, and i said man ain't nobody driving @ this time in the morning he said "SHUT UP" you're going to jail , i got out later on that day and noticed a ticket in my pocket for excessive speeding 150+ on 60 wreckeles driving, evading arrest, street racing, no front license plate, illegal tail lights, and i think that's it, paid 1500 in tickets , 200 to get the stang out of the impound, 1 year of probation and suspended license for a year as well.

Slowimport I agree nowdays. I used to ride a ZX11 turbo and a few other heavily moded bikes and to be honest it was really hard to keep it at the posted limit. I had my days of fun but back then when I was way younger there was almost no traffic on the roads. Could go from DVille to Mesquite and pass five cars. The traffic and amount of poor drivers with cell phones on the road today makes it real dangerious to drive fast. I still do not mess with bikes to much I guess because I have road since I could walk. I remember a briefing one morning where someone called in because there was a cop on the service road and a Busa and a ZX10 pulled up there wheels and then dropped and hit it. The lady was mad because am and my partner didnt go after them. Actually she just said a squad not ours. I laughed when I told the LT that they didnt even see us and that they were just messing around. He was highly concerned. LOL
