I finally got it running right... man was that an awesome bike. So much that I realized quickly - this is WAY to much for me. So I stepped down a notch or so and traded it for this. This fits me 1000x better and I already feel safer and more in control. Probably has something to do with weighing 100+ less too.

ummmm You two realize that an 07 inline 4 600cc is pretty much as fast as a TLR1000R, right? May not "feel" that way because of the torque difference but, top end..........faster or just as fast.

Yeah, I do. But I'm not going to be spending much time in the top end just yet :) I'm not a huuuuge guy but the TL was just to big for me. I'm much more comfortable on this.

I am in the exact same boat. I'm looking at getting rid of my TL for a GSXR too. Where did you get that one from? PM me some details if you don't mind.

ummmm, OK not trying to argue, but I have heard you down play TL's on several occasions. I have first hand experience with TLRs vs new 600's, and even ZX9's. I have yet to be beat by one. I have a buddy with an 07 600GSXR and he hangs ok for a bit then I start to pull him as we climb. Now granted he is about my size....... 6' 240 ish and Im sure with a smaller rider maybe you have a point, or at least it will do a bit better. But the TLR is not as slow as you make out. I had an 05 R1 and sold it kept the TL and bought another. Plus my track times were better on the TL vs the R1. But I promise you.......... 600 faster, no it is not.
DoesSpeedTurnUOn............. really good looking bike you picked up there. I like that black look. I thought about picking up a black cbr 1k myself.

When I bought it, it was hard to start, it wouldn't idle right, coming up to a light it would stall alot, it revved up really weird and just generally was a pain. I'm pretty proficient with engines and stuff and I tried to get it running correctly and I did get it part way running correctly but it was still just not right. I gave up and took it to Rockwall Honda and let them work on it. When I got it back it was a completely different bike. That things scared the fuck out of me. I got it back last Wednesday and rode it thurs night just a little bit and all day Saturday and by Sunday I wanted something smaller and with out so much power. That thing was scary to me. If I was more of a seasoned rider, I'd have kept it. I put a lot of money in it to get it running right and it was really a beautiful bike. It was pretty perfect.

Lots of torque, that thing was a wheelie monster I'm sure. Do you know what they fixed? Looked very clean, did you get what you were asking for it? I've never ridden on a twin and wouldn't mind owning one some day.

Consider this... Factory came with a 39t rear sprocket and a 17 front. I dont know what the front was but the rear on this one was 45!!!! 6th gear pulled like 4th gear I felt like i was driving a drag car down the highway. at 65-70mph, it was doing 6000rpms, to me that was high for the twin. Speedo was WAY off so I'm not really sure how fast I was going. I only did 100% throttle in 6th gear once. That was enough for me to know that bike had too much powah! If I was to buy another twin, i'd look at the RC51, i've ALWAYS loved those bikes. Either one though, you can't go wrong for a good solid twin.
Repairs -
They ended up completely rebuilding the throttle bodies. Turned out 3 out of 4 injectors were so clogged up they weren't even working. The throttle body blades were also way off so they sync'd those too. They got it starting, revving, idling correctly and took it for a spin around the block and it started falling on its face. When I got the bike, it had a 2 position toggle switch by the rear master. I had no clue what it did so i took the fairing off traced the wires and took it out. Evidently it was the "TRE" mod (Timing Retard Eliminator) but they used quick disconnects to install/splice it into the coil pulser wire. Thats the wire that I assume sends the coil a signal and CAN NOT be spliced into. So they soldered it back up and it immediately fixed it. Ran like a champ afterwards!

45 on the back?!?!?!? wow thats extreme. Yeah I looked and test drove an RC51 when I did the TLR. My deciding factor was that the seat on the RC was allot less comfy. I wanted something that you dont see often on the streets. But I am so glad I went with a twin. I may not go back to inlines. If I do, there will always be a twin along side it.

Ahh please, I had major wood for Elvis' for YEARS!!!! I love those bikes and RC51 and Ducs alike. When I see one down here pass by with the pipes on it, I turn and drool. What I'm stating is just pure almost fact. They need to be ridden HARD to get away from an inline 4 600. I'm jus sayin.
If I've EVER bagged on them it's only to state that they aren't the "fastest" (relative). I have a Raider now..........I love V-twins.

the RC is a lot less comfy compaired to the TLR. I have a super hawk and even it is not fun for more than 30 mins....

Pure almost fact?? What does that mean? And needs to be ridden hard? Does that mean the 600 is riding soft? Does the V-Twin still pull the 600? I'm not sure what your saying. And I doubt I'd find anyone that would argue that Andy's RC51, Paul's TLR, or Jesse's TLR would lose to any 600's with comparable rider weights. I'm just sayin'
Someone bring the tech on this. Anyone have any power and quarter mile times for a TLR/RC51?
BTW JC, judging by what DoesSpeedTurnUon said about the way his TLR was geared, it probably "felt" fast as hell :p

AAAHHHH JC, JC , JC............. The key is they can and will get away from a 600. Speaking from experience. Just sayin. :147: I would never claim them to be anywhere near the fastest of the fast. We all know that allot of it is rider. But when there is a straight line, there is not much technique to rolling the throttle and knowing when to hit the gears. Again, my times were better on the Tiller than on my R1 at the track. Maybe I was more at my comfort zone with the tiller thus getting around faster on it?
Kind of lost me on the almost fact thing.............

Stock Tillers can run mid to high 10s @ 128-130 in the 1/4. 600s can trap mid to high 10s@ 123-130 depending on what year. (Talking GSX600s not other makes) The GSX1000s low 10s-maybe a 9 traping 140-148mph depending on year.

A guy from craigslist actually emailed me about it. They had it for 3 weeks so they better have done a lot of work on it! lol
Rode the new GSXR tonight - very happy! This bike fits me alot better than the TLR. Maybe it was the sprockets, maybe it was the weight, I'm not sure... but for me, I am more comfortable on the GSXR and thats really all that matters :)

AHHH nobody mentioned stock. And besides, most know that you cant trust everything the mags say. I read some mags where the hp on bike X would be 140-145ish and then another mag would rate the same bike at a totally different hp with different times. But oh well, we could :swordfight: all day and never get anywhere. To each his own. Two wheels is two wheels.

Nice choice on the new bike. You have to ride what's comfortable to you or you will not be able to ride as fast or you will f up. Maybe it was the torque + sprocket that made it a monster. I can see how. I have a SP2 rc51, btw. Frisco area. I have had inline 4's also.

i had an sv1000 and i never had a 600 keep up with me.. i would stay right with the gsxr1k until about 70-80 and then they'd start walking me. i love the vtwin bikes, i will own a rc51 one day. killer bike. my only true complaint with the sv was the weak suspension, if it would have come with gsxr forks and shock it would have been 100 percent.
