CNN is reporting that Navy sharpshooters were secretly parachuted onto the fantail of the USS Bainbridge and hid there, out of view of the pirates. When their commanders determined that Captain Phillips was "in imminent danger," the snipers went into action. At the moment that two of the pirates came into view with one aiming an AK-47 at Phillips, the sharpshooters shot each of them in the head.

I'm impressed by this:
The operation, personally approved by President Obama, quashed fears the saga could drag on for months and marked a victory for the U.S., which for days seemed powerless to resolve the crisis despite massing helicopter-equipped warships at the scene.
Never would have thought he'd do something like that.

And this cracks me up:
Abdullahi Lami, one of the pirates holding the Greek ship anchored in the Somali town of Gaan, said: "Every country will be treated the way it treats us. In the future, America will be the one mourning and crying," he told The Associated Press. "We will retaliate (for) the killings of our men."
Hey, dipsh*t! If you wouldn't pirate, your "people" wouldn't be dead. I love the mentality of these kinds of people. You can do whatever to us, be we can't fight back. Don't get me started on the left wing ilk, either. :angryfire:

i would think a few mini's would be cheaper than the ransom. can you imagine the look on those morons face when a few thousand rounds hit their little boat.

I'm not impressed by obamas 'decision' in the least. IMO he had no choice, and besides that he likely only did it for the result you just vocalized.

Pandering, not real 'give a damn' at work here...

Props to the Navy for pulling this one off. I laughed when I heard this news.

Now cut off all aid to Somalia until they get their shit in order and take control of their country. No excuses.

I'd wondered why the seals hadn't already drilled a hole in the bottom of the boat and inserted some kinda tube with sleepy stuff coming out of it.

Point is they coulda stopped it day one...

That would be the SMART thing to do.. but we all know what's next.. HNIC will just apologize to the pirates' families for killing their family members, and take care of them for the rest of their lives cause our resident pussy feels sorry for them. :angryfire:

The Pirates are already claiming they are going to retaliate. I feel sorry for the 200 or so people the Pirates currently have as hostages, but other countries have created this mess and America will be blamed for the blood shed. If other countries would have done what we did instead of paying huge ransoms these thugs with boats would think twice about trying to Hijack a ship and might find another line of work.

I think the "personally approved by President Obama" tag line is being played out and exaggerated. Likely, the only thing he actually approved was for the Destroyer to move into range and handle the situation. It's not like he actually authorized the trigger pull for the snipers. It was an immediate situation, not one the commander had time to run by the POTUS.

Barry signed to legal forms, 1 Friday and one on Saturday afternoon. No plans were involved, but signed off on it for "legal" reasons.

Kinda funny but now when you use "HNIC", if you're talking about obsama, it's really true...

The only reason for Obama to sign the papers was for political reasons. The captain of a ship has the right to defend itself or any Americans without written consent. I do not feel like looking for it right now but several reports did say that the navy ship's captain made a split second decision to kill the pirates once he saw the gun pointed in back of the captured captians back.

Obama had NOTHING to do with the decision and there is no reason he should get credit for it. If the SEALS missed and the captain was killed, do you think he would accept repsonsibility?

The person who should get credit for the decision has yet to recieve it. The Navy captain has received zero credit to my knowledge, hell I dont even know his name.

That's what I was getting at in post #12. It was merely a formality for the Messiah to sign the forms.
