I just had some great work done by Gearheads. I've got an '03 Cobra making about 550 rwhp and have had a lot of rearend trouble with the car for about three years.

I've had three rearends, one of which was a Detroit Trutrac. The factory diff was fine until it lost diff fluid and Ford replaced it under warranty. The dealer did a crappy job and the new rear was noisy from the get-go. Last summer I had a Detroit Trutrac put in but was never satisfied with it as it was noisy in cold weather.

Gearheads put in a new ring and pinion along with a complete new factory original differential setup and it is quiet as a mouse.

I've owned a 99 Cobra and now the 03 Cobra, so I've had my share of all the IRS symtoms including the "vibe", the "clunk" and I had forgotten how great these IRS setups can be. The "clunk" is gone and I thought that was impossible to get rid of.

Thanks Chris and Travis

talk to me a little, newb here, bought a 99 cobra, making it a full trakc car, cant tell if tranny or rear end is bad, does have some cluknking at slow speeds while shifting. im just getting started on the car, but want minor bugs worked out before we hit the track, (road course). any advice would help, thanks

I would guess its the rear end if its doing it while shifting... does it only do it in lower gears? When I had Irs mine only did it going into 2nd and 3rd, sometimes if I rammed it hard going into 4th also
