Just a little FYI. My nephews XBox 360 crashed (the "red ring of death"), and here's a little info for those that have not experienced this:
Call 1(800)4MY-XBOX. Have your serial number ready. PLAY DUMB! They will try to half-heartedly walk you through the problem, knowing full well you'll have to send it in. They have extended the warranty 3 years and ours is an '06 model. They will give you a reference number to use on their website to print out a "pre-paid" mailing label. You REMOVE THE HARD-DRIVE FIRST, pack the XBox up carefully, and drop it off at a UPS store. It takes 2-3 weeks to get it done (according to them), and they cover everything, including extending the warranty afterwards.

If this is a repost, or worthless to you guys, let me know, and I'll delete this thread. Just thought it might be helpful.

There is a repair center in McKinney, it usually only takes at most a week around the dfw area. I think I got mine in something like 5 days.

Oh, and they give you a month of xbox live gold.

I sent mine off and got it back within a week. Everyone kept telling me it would take me a few months ... Speaking of gold membership its time to renew mine apparently

Why would someone pay you to fix it when they are getting it fixed for free?

Haven't you ever heard if you're good at something dont do it for free, sorry for charging for the repair. It takes more than 2 weeks most of the time. A rare case, but a friend of mine sent his out and it took 3 months and it still didnt work when he got it back! Im just saying if you want it fixed same day locally from a fellow dfwstangs member I can do it, or you can ship it and deal with all that mess and dont see it again for more than 2 weeks, thats all. Plus I have fixed 8 boxes for people that have payed 40-60 bux and I have even gone to there houses and fixed them.

meh, I just got the three red rings on mine.
found some guide online on how to take apart the case and replaced the tim with some mx2.

I was getting graphical corruptions, green screens, flat out freezes (sound looping), but once I replaced the tim with the mx2 and put it back together it fired right up.

Who knows if this fix will last for long, but I wasn't about to spend money to try and fix it.
