Im getting tired of having to find open wifi's. Is ATT any good and how much do these things usually run per month? Whose got the biggest service area, the fastest donload/upload speed, and best priced? I dont know anything about them or if there even worth the money. I cant tether my cell phone because Iv only got a work phone so that option is out.

While I prefer ATT last time I checked they have a 5 gig per month cap. Sprint does not and will soon have Wimax. Search here and on google for xhom and wimax. Hunt and KJ will likely chime im on Sprint's current speed and coverage.

Sprint. Fuck my ATT POS card. In every time, it RAPES att. When I was in vegas, a full 125KB more. The new xohm shit is coming out, fucking home DSL speeds wirelessly.

No, WiMax is not here yet.

Whichever provider you go for, do NOT let them give you one of the USB cards that the USB is hinged. Heh

Yes it is.
"Officially", it's not here yet. But it is in the DFW area. If you buy an air card, you can use it here. There are sites all over the metroplex, but the deployment is not complete. Therefore, they will not guarantee service until the market is blanketed. I think it's being marketed by Clearwire now, not Sprint XOHM.
Trust me. I deployed it.

That explains why I wasn't aware of it. I stand corrected.

No problemo. There are approx. 350 sites around DFW but since the merger with Clearwire, they've done nothing with them. So, they're sitting. Pisses me off to no end.

I can just imagine since you spent time on the install.
Who provides the service, or should I say, if I wanted a "Wimax card", where would I go to get it and the service? What carrier?

I think you can still go here and buy the hardware and setup an account:
http://www.xohm.com/en_US/shop/
Go where it says "Get help deciding" and talk to someone about it.
Call a XOHM sales rep at 1-877-333-9646.

The service was to be "open source," I believe. This meant anyone could resale it. But I think Clearwire has got its hooks in it deep. I think they'll be the only ones marketing it.

We deployed the whole thing from commissioning, integration, testing, optimization, etc.

2x. I talk to my cust and field rep WEEKLY about this. I wear this ass out about it. We beta tested their curve dc+BB devices but they never offered the XOHM :(

I know Houston is about to start ramping up deployment, and San Antonio/Austin are shortly behind. I'm just not sure about DFW. We had 350 sites on-air by December 1 and they just stopped. I know they're planning on ramping up again in a few more weeks but have no idea on their actual planned launch date.

FWIW, I had a WiMax card and it was awesome. Totally worth it. I was seeing 8.5Mbps download/3.5Mbps upload in the metroplex.

Well does wimax cover Johnson/ellis/parker/tarrant/ county? I mainly work around the Cleburne area(but also work in those counties so if there's nt gonna be coverage there for a while then Ill have to get something else.

I think the furthest west we went was near White Settlement up to Denton and south to almost Burleson. I'm sure that doesn't help you though.
