It was a stellar game. Does anyone know of some good WWII flying games?

The Jane's series was AWESOME. From Navy Fighters to Jane's F-15. That was back in the flight sim heyday.

Unfortunately, flight sims are pretty much dead, with the exception of things like IL-2. =/

Warbirds is still around, the graphics are a little lacking, BUT it's the only successful massive multiplayer online flying game... and it's been around for almost a decade. When I played it, it was freaking awesome. They have a new series out called Dawn of Aces that you might have seen advertised on the history channel.

Super Old and shitty by today's standards but Their Finest Hour by LucasArts was a really good one back in the day. It was the Battle of Britain.

The IL2 series was my favorite single player and 2nd fav pvp.

I looked at some youtube vids, and it looks awesome.
Off to circut city to buy an on sale joystick.
Theres seems to be a few different versions and add-ons to the game, whats the newest one? "IL-2 Sturmovik:1946" ?

I have that game lol it is still amazing! There is some online stuff now I think its warbirds not sure but I have also been looking for a good sim. But janes did it right the first time 8 years ago for sure

1946 is the latest....early jets and shit, good AI for quick missions. A full mission builder that scares me, and a campaign mode that lets you play Pearl.


Mostly I get the Mig-9 and wail on Bombers with fighter support.

I have seen mention on the IL boards of a program like "Comrade" or "MSN gaming Zone", I have no idea of it's actual name as I dont do much in the way of online flying.

Atleast not until I break down and get some pedals.

Also fo your online needs, Aceshigh2 very nice inmo, I like how 3 different sides will be in the same dogfight. (huge hairball of people getting werked)

Its installing now... SWEET. I didnt have a joystick, so i was forced to buy a cheap LG. Ill probably use it for a day or two, and if the game is decent, return it for something nice.

installed, and im having troubles.

When i go to take off, as soon as the plane starts to roll, it pulls hard left. Everything is calibrated. I made sure the joystick was sitting normal when the game started, i check calibration in the game options, and installed the CD that came with the game, and its calibrated fine. Any ideas?

When i fly, as soon as i pull back, to gain altitude, it barrels rolls wildly to the left.
