View Full Version : I need Microsoft Word
I need Word. I have Vista. I'm not really all that computer savvy, so keep that in mind as you make your suggestions.
It's over $100 if I download it online from Microsoft, and the same price at Best Buy.
Is there somewhere I can get it cheaper? I'm hesitant to do it a "shady" way.
Maybe a bookstore or something?
I'm really needing it today, but just don't know where the best places are to look.
Thanks!

Microcenter has Office 2007 Student Teacher Edition for 99 right now if I'm not mistaken.
Here ya go. (http://microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0253576)
^ That's the cheapest you'll find it unless you're a student I believe.

Yes but he said he's hesitant to do it in a shady way so I ruled out the illegal method. :D

Jared I have Office 97 w/ serial number that I am not using (I have Office Enterprise ed. installed) so it is okay to use it, since I am not.
Let me know if you want to borrow it.

I honestly dont know much about Vista but doesnt Microsoft as a default provide with the Microsoft Office edition?
On a side note, if you have already checked and you cant get it, i can get you Microsoft Office 2007 for $50 or so through my employer. Don't quote me on that price, but i know its dirt cheap for the entire suite.

Thats fucking retarded.
When you create and save a document on openoffice.org, what kind of file is it? If you send it to someone without that program, how do they open it? Is it a Word document, a PDF, etc?
Sorry if that's a dumb question, but I'm not a computer whiz. People send me stuff sometimes at work that my comp doesn't recognize.

Opens/saves just as MS Office would do. Sometimes I work on my home PC, save the doc and send it to myself at work...no issues.
I've only really used the Excel and Word portions though.

MS Works, not Word. I'm not even sure Works is included any longer.

Some manufac. do, but you are usually paying for it anyways...$30 more then a computer that doesn't have it included. I was looking at a netbook the other day that had Works included with it... a little more $$ then one that didn't
