We saw it last night. I enjoyed it, but can't figure out why it got an "R" rating? It implied some brutal stuff, but wasn't graphic at all.

That's the craziest thing I've ever heard.
One of the harshest movies I've seen, and didn't get to finish it because my wife couldn't handle the brutality. Seemed like a solid film, but I can't blame anyone for not being able to hang.

When was it graphic? Never saw it...It was "implied", but no gore, sex, and very little language (mainly subtitles). What bothered your wife?

Something about intentional maiming of children didn't set too well with her. Go figure.

I guess. It was not graphic, but implied it. I was just curious. I've seen a lot worse. Sorry you missed the end of it.

We watched it before the Oscars just to see what the buzz what about. It's amazing what a low budget and no name cast can pull off.

I'm sure they deserved it.
But on a serious note, I want to see this movie just because of all the praise, but I don't know anything about it other than, I guess, they maim children.

Repost!
It's a good movie. I didn't want to watch it again but surprisingly I thought it even better the second time I saw it.

The "maiming" is a very small percentage of the film, and I recommend it. It's a great story, and the way it's told makes it even better. Be prepared for lots of subtitles.
