Thinking about picking one up....the pawn shop next to where I work has a NIB one for 750 + Tax.
I'm trying to talk them into 700 plus tax. Anyone think that is a good price?
It's parkerized, fixed combat sights, two mags, cocobolo grips, all the goodies.
Lemme know what yall think. TIA
You could almost step up to a Kimber for that money. I'd save up.

I found this online, and gave them a call. They have one in stock at $599.99.
Call Jerry at 407-425-4932.
You'll pay shipping, but you'll save about $57 in tax.

That's not the loaded one. This (http://www.impactguns.com/store/706397872205.html) is the one he's talking about I believe. I got the same gun in stainless for the same price last year. This one is $800 and out of stock no less, so I would say if you want it then $700 seems like a decent deal. I love mine, but I haven't shot a lot of other 1911s so I can't really compare but so much. I have shot a Kimber, felt about the same. Kimber's safety was a little smoother.
*edit* The one in my link has night sights, which probably add a few bucks.
*edit again*
Here is another one, also with the night sights. Can't find any loaded parkerized without them:

Praco Gun and Pawn in waco has a stainless GI 1911 for 550 NIB. Might be well worth the drive. I paid 700 for my Kimber barely used....

I got it.....loaded, Parkerized, with trijicon night sights for 720 plus tax.....$779.40 out the door.
I'm happy with it......havent shot it yet, but I think it makes a decent introduction into the 1911 world for me.
It came with a mag holder, a holster, 2 mags, nylon bore brush, a Springfield snap cap, and I think that's it.
Giggity.

I just bought one just like that not too long ago. I love it so far, its sitting in a crossbreed supertuck right now. You should read up on the finish if you want it to look nice for a while. Make sure to oil the finish often.

Nice looking gun man....that's exactly what I got.
I'll definitely be doing some research on keeping it looking nice; any recommendations besides oiling?
I'm happy with the price I paid...it's what I wanted....damn impulse purchases:doh:

all i did with mine was oil it heavy and put it in a toaster oven at about 150-175 degrees. once the parts were in there for about 20 minutes i pull it ou and put another part in there. I went through 3 cycles before i called it quits. The idea is to replicate what the GI issue pistols went through being packed in cosmoline or grease in hot arms rooms or warehouses. I think it has turned out nicely. when you wipe the oil or grease off use a microfiber towl so you dont have to deal with lint or anything.

Good lord the Springfields cost A LOT of money these days.
Back in 1999 or 2000 I bought a Loaded Stainless 1911A1 for like $300.00 NEW. But back then there wasn't a huge gun market like today.
I ended up buying a Para Ordinance P12-45 for $450.00 at Cabela's the other night. I thought it must be a mistake since I generally see them go for 650+.
Not bad for a high cap 45, with 3 mags :)

Probably true, but I recall going to a gun show (Fort Worth) in 1999 or 2000 and buying my Loaded Springfield 1911A1 for 300 dollars.

I remember folks FREAKING THE FUCK OUT when they got over $200. That was when I was in High School, though, so I couldn't get one anyway. My parents made me stop at the 10/22 and the Model 94 Winchester. Fucking hippies!
EDIT: They also told me I could have $2k for my first car, and I found someone's unfinished Cobra kit car in the Autotrader for that much. Can you believe they said no? SQUARES!

The classifieds here had one for sale for $750 NIB about a week ago.
Buying a Para Ordnance Stainless Steel from CTD today for $799. I am paying a little too much but the convienence factor is there for me. Wife is paying for it on our debit card and having CTD ship it to an FFL in Florida for my Pa to pick up as a birthday present.

I have the best wife in the world. "Wife go to CTD and buy two guns here are your instructions" later that day "Finished, whatelse can I do for you today", that is where I stop with the commentary you perverts.
She paid for this Para Ordnance for my Dad's Birthday present, didn't bring it home because CTD is shipping it to his FFL for us.

I'm not greedy. I just would like a pistol like the OP and Patrick have. Other than that, I would just probably buy ammo.
I'm not sure if you'd fit in my uni, but that one day would cost me 18 years of service. I'm too close to the end to do anything to screw up a nice retirement.

Shit you probably have a better collection than I do. But buying ammo can cost more than firearms do. I know I have bought a ton since Nov, it keeps falling over the side of my canoe though.
18 years that is it? Retirement does that still exist since Nov4th. You can't retire millions of welfare recipients are needing your support.

I started young. I have a little more than 7 years to go to hit my 25 years. I might stick around more to bump up the retirement, but I can go when I'm 48 years old.

HA! I will admit my safe is getting packed. Especially with my Nikon gear. I just can't justify leaving $10k worth of camera/lenses out in the open when I have a nice large safe.
My wife thinks that if my 6' tall by 40" wide and 30" deep safe is full, it's time to quit accumulating stuff. I just say it's time for another safe.

THE ELEVEN COMMANDMENTS OF GUN SAFETY
Guns are not toys, they must be handled properly.
NEVER handle a gun without adult supervision.
NEVER let anyone you are with mix alcohol, or drugs and guns.
ALWAYS follow these IMPORTANT safety rules:
1. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
2. Guns should be unloaded when not actually in use.
3. Don't rely on your gun's "safety". Treat every gun as if it can fire at any time.
4. Be sure of your target and what's beyond it.
5. Use correct ammunition.
6. If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, HANDLE WITH CARE. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and get adult help.
7. Always wear eye and ear protection when shooting.
8. Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before shooting.
9. Don't alter or modify your gun, and DO have your gun serviced regularly.
10. Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the firearm you are using. Do not use any firearm that you have not had adult instruction in handling.

That said .... you should buy one ... we could be some wicked cool gang
