Add biometric fingerprint scanning to allow access to your garage. Want to make it so your kids can come and go from the house and don't want to give them a key to lose? Don't want to give them the PIN code for the garage for them to forget or give out to friends? Get this...

Sucks if the power goes out though, unless you have a backup battery on your opener. I guess I'm old fashioned, a key works just fine for me.

If the power goes out, no opener (biometric or otherwise) will work..

Actually there are a few GD openers that you can buy with a back up battery like a computer. Mounts to the roof next to the GD opener. My girls parents had one installed a year ago.

They also have the ones that use a code for less. They are linked on that same page.

No no no, not opens it. Just makes the beeping sound when you hit the button and unlocks the door.

Just make sure if you buy them understand fingers need to be clean everytime you use it. BioMetric Finger Print have problems not working if you have any type of grease, dirt, or anything on your fingers. We have installed them a few times (I work in the Commercial Security Industry) and they have had problems from the start. The BioMetric devices that work well are the Iris Scanners. But that is not something most of us would want to spend the money on for our homes..

Old fashioned way would be if they can't get in sit out front and do homework... I have actually done that a few time, and the only reason I did homework was because I was SO bored waiting to get inside and watch TV. :disappointed:

Mythbusters took a fingerprint and put it on some kind of ballistics gel thumb.

They got in.

Ya, I was going to bring up something similar. That looks like a very simple scanner. As in, a savvy person could get in with relative ease.

I think its pretty slick. Instill have my alarm on key fobs with the door on it as well, the visor buttons, the keyless pad, so not realistic at this time.
